FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

Tomorrow is the newly Annual Event:
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!!!

Saturday, Comic Store owners are giving away FREE comics mades especially for the event. So look up your local shop and swing by there saturday and get your FREE comics. And while you're there, look around and maybe buy something. If you have kids or a younger sibling, it's the perfect opportunity to expose them to the wonderful world of comics. They changed my life as a kid and continue to do so!

A quick correction, Jim. Publishers don't give them away for free. Retailers do. We have to pay for them, and then we give them away for free. Publishers do carry some of the cost too, but they most definately are not the ones responsible for the "giving away." This is an event given by retailers, to help them bring more people into comics and into their stores.

Whoa!! I didn't know that. Thank you for the clarification! I'll change the post.

That blows YOU have to front the cost!!

That's why I'm here - to enlighten the masses.

For us anyway, the cost comes out of our marketing budget. We hope that this bit of good will brings in new customers who spend money. We even give some of the comics we paid for to other places to give away (this year we gave some to a local library and the art museum).

My sequart.com column: Counter Intelligence (http://www.sequart.com/columns/?col=19) has details on how FCBD works for us retailers.
