RIP: DENNIS HOPPER

DENNIS HOPPER passed away this morning at the age of 74, after battling Prostate Cancer.

Hopper appeared in over 200 Movies & Television Shows... but I will always fondly remember him best for EASY RIDER, APOCALYPSE NOW, BLUE VELVET and TRUE ROMANCE.

Rest in Peace.

DO YOU WANT JIMSMASH TWEETS?

I've been getting requests for JIMSMASH to be on TWITTER.

Seems like extra work to me, but who knows... maybe it could be fun.
I'm always thinking about all-things dorky, but those thoughts are not always "JimSmash POST Worthy".

Many people seemed to dig my short-lived "On Jim's Brain" pic I was doing last year... perhaps this could be an extension of that??

So, would anyone be interested in a JimSmash Tweet?

If so, What would you want it to be?
What wouldn't you want it to be?

Speak up!

T-SHIRT OF THE DAY: SARK HOODY

"Greetings. The Master Control Program has chosen you to serve your system on the Game Grid. Those of you who continue to profess a belief in the Users will receive the standard substandard training that will result in your eventual elmination. Those of you who renounce this superstitious and hysterical belief will be eligible to join the Warrior Elite of the MCP. Each of you will be given an identity disc. Whatever you do or whatever you learn will be imprinted on this disc. If you lose your disc or fail to follow commands, you will be subject to immediate de-resolution. That will be all."

Buy now at Threadless.

RIP: GARY COLEMAN

Aw, man... GARY COLEMAN, one of the nicest & professional actors, died yesterday from a brain hemmorhage at the age of 42. I will always remember him from Diff'rent Strokes, Buck Rogers, The Simpsons, Shafted! and seeing him occasionally in the Model Train Store buying new pieces for what I imagined was a kickass Train Setup at home.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Coleman.
Thank you for all the years of entertainment !

BLURAY ALIENS ANTHOLOGY PACKAGING

As the World collectively holds its excited breath for the ALIENS ANTHOLOGY BLURAY DVD RELEASE, Fox has shown us some hints at the nifty packaging, which is pretty cool.

A few thoughts:

1) "Anthology"? I guess they took too much flack for "Quadrilogy".... from what I've read, this new set includes the same 4 movies as the Quadrilogy set.

2) That QUEEN image... I think its a pic of SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES' statue.
3) Love the EGG packaging with the ALIEN wrapped around it. But what the F?! They use the Egg, Alien & font from frickin' ALIEN: RESURRECTION? It's the worst Alien movie of the series (excluding the dreadful 2 AVP turds, which I do not acknowledge). Hey, I give you A+ for Effort... but a big ole RED "F" for execution. So much so, I won't be shelling out the money for this deluxe set. Why would I? So I can have a piece of poop Alien Resurrection "statue" buried in the back of my closet? No thanks. I'll just pick up ALIEN and ALIENS individually.

THE WELL IS BONE DRY AT MARVEL

Solicit reads: "....the PRINCE OF POWER is pitted against the new HERALD OF GALACTUS! Its no-holds-barred action as the Lion of Olympus.... must fend off a vicious and alien Silver Surfer...."

Future Story, What If--? story, whatever story.... another Silver Surfer? Come on guys, you're supposed to be "The House of Ideas".

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA BEAR ! ! !

USED BOOKSTORE SCORE: ALIENS BOOK 1

I was at a used bookstore the other day and found this 1st printing of Dark Horse's ALIENS: Book One trade paperback for $4! I already have a copy, from when I bought it back in '88 when it came out. But I rarely ever see this 1st printing available so I grabbed it cause I'm obsessed. I love this collection for various reasons, one being that later reprints are colored which I find diminishes the gorgeous black & white artwork by Mark A. Nelson. The book is awesome.

VINTAGE STYLE BOBA FETT

Above is another "Vintage Style" Star Wars figures that emulate the old school vintage packaging with new sculpt & paint figue. They've been putting these out to celebrate SW's anniversaries.... this year being EMPIRE's 30th (I feel old!).

For years I've wanted a vintage BOBA FETT on card but they go for thousands of dollars. So this looks to be a very nice -cheap- alternative. OR, some people make custom ones with the actual vintage figure inside. Hmmm, decisions decisions...

Here are 2 pics of the ORIGINAL Boba Fett figure, with working missle!

SIDESHOW TEMPLE OF DOOM INDY

A much preferred figure than the 'Kingdom of the Crystal Turd' one:

DEATH STAR GRILL

Awesome, check out this homemade DEATH STAR GRILL by Bryan A. Tate! These things should be on the market, man! I know I'd buy one... and some for friends (*cough-CWheeler-in-MD-cough*).

And dig the handle: A little Star Destroyer!

You'd definitely have to buy the X-Wing weenie cooker to go with the grill. It's Dork Law.

MMMM, ZOMBIE MEAT

From Pink Tentacle:
“Zombie Meat,” an exquisite new Japanese snack for the horror enthusiast, consists of bite-sized chunks of tender blue flesh that, according to the package, has been aged to deadly perfection at the graveyard.

The ghastly meat snack, which tastes remarkably like peppered beef jerky, can be found at select shops in Japan for 399 yen (about $4.50) per pack."

WINNEBAGO MAN DOCUMENTARY

Interesting but I'm more interesting in having a high res version of the original You Tube clip. Hopefully they tracked down the original and will include on the dvd.

ANATOMY OF A TRIBBLE

THE ANATOMY OF A TRIBBLE,
from the Starfleet Reference Manual book.

(via Romulan Whore - love that name!)

THE WHAT KID?

The whole "Unnecessary Vehicle for Will Smith's Son" thing aside, the new KARATE KID remake is bugging the shit out of me.

What bugs me is the title. So, its the story of a young boy who moves to CHINA where he befriends a KUNG FU Master and learns the ancient CHINESE fighting style "KUNG FU".... and is then called "The KARATE Kid." Shouldn't he be called "THE KUNG FU KID"?. You know, because he's fighting with Kung Fu (not Karate).. because Kung Fu is Chinese and Karate is Japanese... he's fighting with Kung Fu (not Karate).

Have we become so dumb as a Society? It just really irritates me and makes me sad.

GOOGLE CELEBRATES PACMAN'S 30TH BIRTHDAY

Tomorrow (Saturday 5/22) is PACMAN'S 30TH BIRTHDAY!

To celebrate, Google has posted on their homepage an interactive doodle where ,using your arrow-keys, you can play Pacman! Nice!

I have fond memories of playing Pacman for hours on my old Atari 2600... and my little Pacman Coleco game - both still operating just dandy. The Atari ruled.

SMALLVILLE MANHUNTER

Nice.
