JIMSMASH READING ASSIGNMENT: SUPERMAN

JEPH LOEB and TIM SALE are two amazing imaginative creative talented people who, when working together (writing and artwork respectively), capture lighting in a bottle and turn it into magic. Take their 4th(?) collaborative outing together:
SUPERMAN: FOR ALL SEASONS.

If you are planning on seeing this Summer's "Superman: Returns" then I IMPLORE you to buy this comic graphic novel. It's a quick read and has amazing artwork and superb storytelling. Superman is rarely handled properly, unfortunately. However, this book captures everything wonderful and magical about the Superman Mythos which has kept the character and story of Superman alive and thriving for over 60 years!
To see Superman Returns without reading this book is doing yourself a disadvantage.

WHO IS SUPERMAN?
Is he just the super kryptonian powers and the super action and the super villains? No, of course not.
Who is the person, the man, wearing that suit?
Who is he on the inside? -Inside his head. Inside his heart. Inside his soul. When you think of Superman, what do you think of? How do YOU see him?

BEFORE watching Superman Returns...
Read Superman: Four Seasons. It will remind you of how you see and think of Superman (good or bad) and it may just have you rethinking and reseeing him. Which is a good thing, especially before seeing the movie.

Buy it.

Read it.
You will enjoy it.

*I also HIGHLY recommend Loeb/Sale's other wonderful collaborations at both DC and Marvel Comics:
--Batman: The Long Halloween
--Batman: Dark Victory
--Daredevil: Yellow
--Spiderman: Blue
--Hulk: Gray
