i'm 49% geek. If I had the extra 1% in me I could figure out how to post the html code to show off my geekiness.

I couldn't decide between 1.618 and 42. I mean - the ratio of perfection or the answer to life - how can one choose between the two?!?!

and I call bullshit on the star trek question that asks about the hearing ability of some douche-bag aliens from Voyager (or maybe Enterprise) or some bs.. no self respecting geek would even acknowledge Voyager as part of the Trek mythos..

sigh..

I beg to differ.

Voyager in fact heralded back to the original goals of the first Star Trek Series in a way that only "next generation" had done. They were forced to get that ship and crew away from all the history built up around the first series and next gen to get back to the original feeling of exploration and discovery.

The Ferengi (answer to that geek question) appeared before Voyager in Deep Space Nine. SO, maybe THAT'S the series you should hate - where exploration was completely taken out of the mix and only character development was king.

Enterprise is indeed an abomination and it's immediately evident in the opening sequence where they have a FUCKING pop song with lyrics instead of the traditional tried and true classical orchestral music that represents the elegance and breadth of space and beyond.

That's all I'm saying because if I argue any more it only serves to further dig this hole of geek-ness I am now entrapped in.

*sigh*

you're both wrong (hee hee), the Ferengi actually debuted on ST: The Next Generation. At first they were portrayed more like "savage barbarians".... I don't think it was until DS9 where they acted more "civilized" and "businessmen-like".

Good point, Spacejase, on Voyager "returnign to the its roots".... I agree that the IDEA was more to the original, but the execution (and horrible c-list casting) was awful. I blame Rick Berman for the downfall of the Trek Feranchise, beginning with DS9 aka "Love Boat Star Trek".

Nerd Jim Out.

I was careful not to say the Ferengi appeared on DS9 "first".
