FOX TRULY HATES ME

It has just been brought to my attention that in a recent episode of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, they not only had yet ANOTHER time-traveller from the future, but made it KYLE REESE's brother.... DEREK... portrayed by 90210's BRIAN AUSTIN GREEN. Oh my dear lord, the anger that swells.... Reese's brother?!?! REESE'S BROTHER?!?!! How fucking original. It goes without saying I will NOT be watching that turd show... ever. Why must FOX destroy the gems they have? Alien... Predator... Terminator... I think its because they hate me. Oh jeezus, the anger.... I hate FOX sooo much... that... it... it... flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, heaving... breath - heaving breaths. Heaving breath...

here's what's wrong with it.......

1) It's UNNECESSARY

2) It detracts from Reece, by using his name as a stepping stone to make this guy seem cool, instead of,..I don't know,..just making him a cool character????

3) It's so blatant in your face " hey kids!!! you remember Reece??? he was cool right??? Well guess what???,..this is his Brother!! .....yea!! see we watched the original. We know you liked the character,..now you can keep enjoying him as we lamp off his popularity with his younger, cuter more lovable brother!!!!! It's "NEW-REECE" ,..with less calories!!!!! ( it reminds me of Landfill's brother in 'Beerfest' ,..and THAT was a comedy)

4) it's Lucas-esque bullshit.

5) would his brother (who he never mentioned) even BE alive??????

6) it's unimaginative, and uncreative ( was this written BEFORE the writers strike???)

7) IT'S UNNECESSARY

i knew there was a reason i didn't watch that much TV.........

Jim, I think I could power a city on your anger by making you watch FOX sequels ! :)

I bet Miles Dyson turns out to be Sarah Connor's mother who had a sex change in an alternate timeline whilst fighting Predators on LV-426 with Robocop.

So going off what Jim and Maker said...

The points you guys have brought up are the equivalent of fanboy whining. Both of you are upset at just the idea that Kyle has a brother and haven't formed your opinion based on what has actually happened on the show. I mean both of you are complaining but neither of you have actually seen the episode.

If you want to argue against the introduction of the character then at least use valid points. Mention that flash-forwards in the recent episode with the the two Reese Brothers weren't believable. Mention that the dialog was bad and didn't fit with Kyle's voice from the original film. Mention how the show didn't bother explaining that Kyle never once said he had a brother... Mention whatever, but actually base your arguments on what you are trashing.

whoa whoa... hostile, much?

One,this is JimSmash... of course its "fanboy whining"!!!

Two, the IDEA of introducing Kyle's brother into the show bugged me. How they did it is irrelevant and not the point of my post.

But the main point, is that its lazy writing. They aren't coming up with NEW ideas... instead, they are rehashing and milking off previous ones.

I'll post more, but I'm off to the Iron Maiden concert.

Scott... apologies for any possible misinterpreting of my tone in that last post; the "hostile much" part... it was intended to be playful and friendly. I was in a rush out the door and once on the road, I "played the tapes" back and thought it may have come across as pissy and juvenile... in a bad way.

more on my reese bro thoughts tomorrow. now its time to sleep.

Yes, Fox and all the major studios hate you Jim. I am sorry you didn't get the memo.

Jim said...

Oh, I got the memo, alright.

(Am I sensing people have finally had enough with my smashing, bitching and whining?)

"Am I sensing people have finally had enough with my smashing, bitching and whining?" No, sometimes things just need to be said, so keep smashing. If I want to listen to a sycophant, I’ll turn on one of those late nite shows.

OK,..hows this,...In the new alien movie, it's a flashback to Ripley's daughter following in her mother's footsteps by going on a mining operation in deep space, where SHE TOO encounters an Alien. AND The captain of the ship is a young David HICKS, who left his son behind on earth to grow up on the marine base with his ex wife.....

.....Now doesn't that sound pretty fucking lame.....exactly. It's the same concept, lazy, cheap, unimaginative, cliche' writing.

Jim said...

Hahahaha!
You just put it out there.
Its now being developed into a series.

But you should have made it so the THIRD Reese brother changes his last name to HICKS for some reason... thereby connecting the bloodlines: KYLE REESE IS HICKS' great-grand uncle!!!

Here's a question? John is to save the human race in the future. Future John sends Reece to impregnate his mom in the past. In new show Lil' John and Mom jump into the future about 7 years to 2007. In one episode a group from the future to help John gets killed by a terminator. The FBI does fingerprinting on Dead future guys find out that future guys are like in Kindergarten in Ohio. So that means future guys are alive but just kids in 2007. Now for the question: How long before they bring in lil' Reece? He should be alive, right?

Can't wait until they do that then watch JimSMASH!

It's fine my computer had just broke and I was on campus in a bad mood. I probably came off more aggressive than I meant to.

In the case of this... the most recent episode was just as bad as all the others. So it was frustrating that you were trash talking it when you didn't even suffer through the episode.

Jim said...

Ha!

Well, I don't think I will be suffering through any future episodes. I had fallen behind several episodes and after the Reese crap, I erased the show from my DVR.

To add to my explanation... I feel bringing in a new character that is Kyle's brother uses and diminishes the original character in order to make this new one interesting. I just hate when writers manipulate previously established characters and story because they cannot come up with something new and interesting themselves. I have no problem building FROM previous work, but I do have a problem when the build ON or OVER it.

Also, the concept of bringing in a sibling down the road is not only lazy writing, but cliche and over used. But it seems to be a key element when writing future stories from the "FOX THREE" (Aliens, Predator, Terminator)...

In the first Predator comic, which was historically the first post-Predator 1 story... the main character was Dutch's brother, a cop, who fights the Predators.

In the comic "ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES", one of the main characters is Vasquez's younger sister, who is a marine, who now battles aliens.

And now, we have Kyle Reeses' brother.

It's like a formulaic staple of "sequels" when people can't think of new stuff. Similar to TV sitcoms bringing in a baby when they've run out of ideas.

Which brings me to Craig's comment... oh god, you're right - Lil Kyle is just around the corner.... maybe Sarah actually raises him as a foster-mother. Very Oedipus. (if they do, I blame you completely, Craig!!) hahaha
