STRETCH MONSTER ! ! !

Anyone remember STRETCH MONSTER? One of my earliest, albeit fuzzy, memories is playing with Stretch Monster. The thing weighed a freaking ton and simply was not made for a 3-4yr old. Don't get mad at my parents, he was my older brother's toy. But later, he would fill the role of the KRAKEN when playing CLASH OF THE TITANS. Playing with Stretch Monster was like chewing on really really old gum. Just thinking about him makes my teeth & jaws hurt.

I've never heard of "Stretch Monster" he must have been the predecessor to Stretch Armstrong that came out in like 89 or 90.

I remember with Armstrong, he quickly lost his stretchy-ness and for some reason I thought putting him in the microwave would make him regain his stretchy-ness. Instead he melted and my parents had to get a new microwave, but in my defense I was like 8.

Stretch Monster was Stretch Armstrong's enemy. Stretch Armstrong actually first came about in 1976 (a year after I was born!). Wikipedia says he was re-issued in 1990 but with a stretch dog sidekick!

Love the microwave story! hahahaha

I remember bringing my Stretch Armstrong (oldschool) to 5K, and testing the limits off his strength with my fellow kindergardeners. I found out later on,that the goo, which splattered everywhere, was toxic and was rumored why the original was discontinued. The new ones, I think had powder in them.

---ohh the memories........

I might have eaten the goo from my uncle's Stretch Monster... I have a foggy memory of piercing it with a safety pin and tasting it.

The tragic part is Mr Legs is not talking about the toy.

But it explains sooo much!

The second generation of them definitely had a powdery-stuff inside.

Stretch Monster kicked ass. Stretch Armstrong's reissue in the 90's sucked hard. He had wavy blonde hair and a headband and a tank top. Yeah, you heard me.

Had one and thought it was the coolest Christmas gift. I guess I was around nine or ten when I got mine.
