Actors? Fuck the actors! This is great for actors...

What about all of the brilliant actors. who for whatever reason choose to act from behind a computer monitor instead of on stage or screen?

This is a horrible development for them methinks. The title of your post is appropriate. Another technological advancement that's swallowing the soul of animation.

Mr. Legs not only smash, but spray wet feces at this group of physicists and computer scientists! take that! And that! And That! I hate your minds!

Every year or so they come up with something like this that they say will replace actors, will the computer be able to provide a voice ? NO will the computer be able to give a performance ? NO It still needs an actor, this is no doubt great for gimmicky things like ads or for doing creatures but I think it'll be a long way off before we go to the cinema and see 'Laurel and Hardy' in a new film and people saying I don't remember seeing this one as a kid,it must be from an archive or something. It just ain't gonna work,Polar Express sucked, yet the Incredibles where the characters looked cartoony was great. People want real people in films and CG is fine for Monsters and CG Cartoon characters !

I agree, but believe me, its nearing the point where you're not going to be able to tell the difference....

But as I say a performance is vital, even Scooby and Shaggy have voices and character,Hanna Barbara can't just generate that or Kasey Kasem would have been out of work for a long time. :)

Indeed. CG characters are always done best when multiple techniques are used.... same with visual fx.

David Prowse IS Darth Vader,....
James Earl jones is his voice.....

I think this can be great for filmaking and acting alike. There are a lot of good actors who, for whatever reason,..cannot give a good physical performance (ei,...Brandom Routh as "super-man",..and Tobey M. as "spider-man"). The example above is case in point. David Prowse gave Darth Vader his "presence" through his physical acting,..but james earl Jones completed the character by lending his voice..........

-you can getthe best of both worlds........

I agree.
I'm just worried about the negative use of this technology. In the article they talk about having dead actors act together once again. I don't want to see beloved actors selling products.... or beloved actors oppostie shitty ones; "Audrey Hepburn and Keanu Reeves in this year's most romantic comedy!"

what about people who are great actors, but aren't "pretty" enough to get a gig,..bc we all know that all of today's good looking movie stars (keanu reeves, jessica alba, ect...) are GREAT thesbians, who have spent hours working on their craft, and have mastered it (note sarcasm). This actually give people with some talent, who otherwise would not, a chance to showcase thier abilities......Give me a great performance, and i got no problem with it. Anything other than today's standards. the word 'Actor' now means "someone who looks pretty on screen". and I'm PRETTY sick of it......viva la revolution!!!!!!!!!

Can any one honestly imagine going to the cinema to see a film that had John Wayne in,you'd know for a fact it wasn't him no matter how amazing it looked,it could never give a performance like him because only John Wayne acted that way, anything else would be someone's impersination of him.
