Well, its finally happened. The bogus, unimaginative Hollywood remake/rehash machine now has its sights set on the Japanese film "BATTLE ROYALE."
Do yourself a favor and just see the original.
It's awesome!
Really, why wait and see the American version, when the original kicks ass and doesn't need to be remade?
Directed by the late Kinji Fukasaki, "Battle Royale" takes place in the near future. Japan is on the verge of utter societal collapse. To curb in out of control chaotic youth rebellion, the government introduces a strict new punishment, the "Battle Royale Program"; a randomly chosen group of students are taken to a desert island and forced to fight each other to the death.
Netflix. Rent it this weekend. Don't watch with the English Dub on. Japanese with subtitles, all the way!

WHO the hell watches foreign movies dubbed?!?! I figured they would have stopped that BS.
Shame on any of you who are functionally illiterate or can't be bothered to enjoy other cultures outside of your own!
BAH!
I know!!
You'd be surprised how many times I hear people complain that they have to read subtitles.
Watching dubbed foreign films is an atrocity. Just don't watch the movie, then. Sheesh.
I agree, yet I have found the dubbed version good for repeat viewings; allows me to visually study the film since I know the story. Plus, sometimes the dubbed version tells almost an entirely different story.
The book of Battle Royale also kicks ass, having character development the movie lacked.
