MOON LANDING ANNIVERSARY

Today is the Anniversary of the U.S. landing on the Moon! Man, I wish I could have been alive in 1969 to witness that! It's not often something like that happens that can blow your mind and change your world... and be a GOOD thing.

I highly recommend renting the HBO Mini-Series "FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON", produced by Tom Hanks. Great stuff. Click here to neflix it.

Thanks for the anniversary note Jim...

I was also 2 - but remember something about it.

In fact I remember a few things from my 2nd/3rd year quite clearly...

1) putting my finger in an electrical socket... (I'm writing to you now because I was mercifully ungrounded at the time)

2) eating a whole bag of oreos while watching a Godzilla movie...

3) riding my big wheel down the stairs

4) rockets landing on the moon and all the buzz around it.

I can't tell you if I saw the actual first landing... but I know I saw a few as a kid, and as I grew up I wore out all the National Geographics that had space photos (yeah, they had space photos too) and was was usually camped around the TV any time there was a televised launch... I remember we were moving during the the Apollo Soyez launch in '76 - and I insisted on hooking up the TV first so I wouldn't miss it. I saw as many of the Shuttle launches that were available (thank you cable)... and sadly made an inappropriate joke during the infamous Challenger launch (how was I to know it would REALLY blow up?)... I think that was one of the last I deliberately saw on the TV.
