speaking of Golden Apple, what is your take on the reduction in price on all comics to 2.99!

From what I've read so far today, DC is the only one reducing their prices (with a rumor Marvel will follow).

As a consumer, I'm pleased. The price bump to $4 an issue had me dropping all comics with that price tag, which was most. And once you start cutting down your list like that, you're just a step away from stop buying new comics all-together.

I'll be picking up those dropped titles that return to $2.99... as well as be more inclined to try out NEW titles and mini-series.

I was THIS close to dropping out of new comics completely.

also, with DC's 3.99 books, they atleast had additional pages with NEW material in the form of their backup stories. I will miss SOME of those backups (like Manhunter) but won't shed a tear. Marvel, however, did not provide new material with their price increase to 3.99... they'd sometimes include a reprint of older stories... which is ok, I guess, for new readers who may not have been exposed to those stories before... I commend any effort to expose newer readers to the classic material... but as an older reader, I already have those stories and don't want to pay twice via the extra cost.
