WONDER WOMAN COSTUME - DIFFERENT?
New images of the upcoming WONDER WOMAN TV Show have been released. The costume looks slightly different from the previous image release (see previous post ). I like the more muted colors... and NON-SHINY hotpants. This looks much better, I think. I hope this is the one they stick with in the show.

RANDOM FIND: THE PUNISHERS
As I was looking for an image for another post, I stumbled upon a webpage spotlighting THE PUNISHERS, the futuristic 'street army' that battled Jim Valentino's Guardians of the Galaxy! Here are my favorites:
PUNISHER GENERAL
The leader of the Punishers, the Punisher General was a sick, sadistic sociopath, who didn't even have a problem working with the Badoon. When he heard that the Commandeers and Guardians had joined forces, he decided to send every Punisher in his ranks to finally end the war with the Commandeers. When he was told by Ned Whitter that he had let the Commandeers and Guardians escape, he snapped Ned's neck.
---
NED WHITTER
A sniper, Ned nearly assassinated Major Victory. He would've easily accomplished the task if it wasn't for a diversion caused by the mutant Talon. Ned was then beaten on by Charlie 27, until the Ultimate Punisher scared the Guardians away. When the Punisher General didn't like Ned's answer to why he let the Guardians get away, he snapped Ned's neck.
---
ULTIMATE PUNISHER
A nearly indestructible tank, the Ultimate Punisher was sent in to finish off the Guardians and Commandeers, forcing them to retreat. When things got bad in the final confrontation between the Commandeers and Punishers, the Punisher General and Durge attempted to escape, using the Ultimate Punisher. As they left, Hollywood lifted the Ultimate Punisher over his head and threw it off a building. Luckily, Krugarr was able to catch it, and teleported it, along with the Guardians to a safe location, where Charlie 27 rigged it to explode.

Later, the General, along with the Badoon and his entire army of Punishers, confronted the Guardians and Commandeers, but when Major Victory returned, he attempted to escape, along with the surviving Badoon. Entering the Ultimate Punisher, the General had a change of heart when the Badoon tried to call for reinforcements from his home world. Shooting the Badoon in the back, the Punisher General attempted to negotiate his way to freedom, but when he left the tank, he was shot in the head by Gabrielle.

Ned was practically fearless, as even while getting his face caved in by Charlie 27, he spat on him in defiance.

CAPTAIN AMERICA TRAILER
Wow... I actually like it - looks fun!
Evans isn't my preferred choice for Cap... however, I recently watched 'SUNSHINE' for the first time (While flawed, I fell in love with it). Evans was great in it, actually. If the director guides him in a more serious approach (non-goofball, comedic guy), he could work as a fun interpreation of the Sentinel of Liberty. Fingers crossed with geeky, optimistic hope!

YOUR NEW WONDER WOMAN
Here's the first pic released of Adrianne Palicki as the new WONDER WOMAN, set to debut on NBC May 16, 2011.
It looks very similar to Jim Lee's recent redesign, but with light blue pants & sans jacket.I love Wonder Woman and, like with many other properties, am always waiting for that definitive version to be put forth... but alas, that's almost never the case. Much of my griping stem from that disappointment of not seeing a worthy interpretation to the Character & their potential for greatness....
With this new Wonder Woman show, and based only on the above pic & a few press release snippets, so far my main beef is the casting choice. To me, she just doesn't look the part as DIANA. But then again, this is probably a "reboot" of the campy 70s television series, which is what most Americans know of Wonder Woman.... and while I loved me some Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, she wasn't the best Diana either.... but worked well within the tone the creators went for; campy. From the late-60s to the late-80s, most Americans saw Batman as the campy Adam West version... its the same thing here,
One of the reasons why I'm not a fan of Greg Land's work is that his figures do not look like the CHARACTERS but instead look like Super Models dressed up in Cosplay Costumes. I get the same reaction here... Palicki does not look like WONDER WOMAN... she looks like she's ready for Cosmo photo shoot.... or selling a WW Halloween costume.
In the end, I'm not digging this new version and probably won't watch the show past the pilot (which I'll check out simply for curiousity sake). Its also not being aimed at me anyway. So me fanboy-whining is even more irrelevant than usual.
Who knows, maybe it will be fun. Wonder Woman seems to be one of those near-impossible characters to get "right".... outside the various animation incarnations the past 15 years, that is. But I'm glad to see her live-action return in Mainstream Pop Culture.

MICHAEL GOUGH PASSED AWAY
MICHAEL GOUGH passed away today at the age of 94. My fellow dorks will fondly remember him as ALFRED PENNYWORTH, Bruce Wayne's Butler in the Tim Burton 'BATMAN' movies. He reprised his role in Schumacher's 2 Batman films (but we do not speak of those movies).
I really enjoyed Gough's take on Alfred which spanned nearly a decade. Not a bad legacy to leave behind, excluding the 178 films & television he's credited with since 1946... including 'Dr. Who', 'Venom' and 'Horror of Dracula'!
Rest in Peace, Mr. Gough.

NEW CONAN TEASER - MY WORST FEARS REALIZED
Good grief... this looks worse than I initially feared. SyFy Original Bad. And that dude is simply wrong for the part of Conan on every conceivable level. I had made a lame joke yesterday that he looked like YOUNG Conan.... NO - he doesn't even work as a young Conan. I don't blame him - I blame the Casting Director. CONAN is a character and world near & dear to my heart... which is breaking upon viewing this teaser trailer. Bah! BAH I SAY!

ANATOMICALLY INCORRECT CREATURES
Anatomically Incorrect Creatures comes from the brain of The Creature Specialist (a.k.a Bree Y.), who lives and works out of her Creature Laboratory in Los Angeles. She is a lover of all creatures odd, strange, scruffy and, of course, cute!
But fate is cruel because The Creature Specialist is severely allergic to all real animals with fur. Unable to keep a pet herself, she has created many fun, weird and adorable creatures to call her own and has decided to share her creations with the world.
