WANT: BACARA IN VINTAGE PACKAGING

Gods Almighty I despise the Star Wars PREQUELS.
I had to get that out of the way to proceed....

One of the elements within the Prequels that I really dig is the clone COMMANDER BACARA. I've geeked out on him before here. He's the one that lead the murder of Jedi Council Member KI ADI MUNDI (the Conehead). I just really dig the design of Bacara, particularly the helmet.

I also really dig Kenner's current VINTAGE STYLE figure packaging that emulates the original Star Wars figures of my youth. And, within my imagination of What-Could-Have-Been I'd like to have a couple PREQUEL characters set in this new packaging... like Commander Bacara. So please, Kenner... make a Commander Bacara figure within this Collection!!!

I was in Toys R Us this weekend and happened to find myself in the Action Figure Aisle (hard to believe, I know). There I was pleasantly surprised to see SPIDER-MAN 2099 and WORLD WAR HULK smiling & waving at me with a "Buy 1 get 1 FREE" sign! I had no choice and was powerless to stop the purchase.

UPDATED: What was previously believed to be Concept Art for the upcoming ALIEN Prequels turns out to be FAN ART by DOUG WILLIAMS.

Doug posts on his blog:

"I decided to start designing what I think would be a cool Alien prequel. The above are some early lunch sketches of the Space Jockey not plugged into his cockpit. I read somewhere where Ridley refered to the chair as a space suit. It got me thinking. What if the whole ship is the suit? An organic massive transport suit."

LESLIE NIELSEN PASSED ON

One of the funniest people of our time, LESLIE NIELSEN, has passed on.

Nielsen appeared in over 230 movies & television shows, including FORBIDDEN PLANET, MASH (tv), THE UNTOUCHABLES, THE MOD SQUAD, THE MANHUNTER, GUNSMOKE, BONANZA, WILD WILD WEST, THE FUGITIVE, and ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR/PRESENTS.

But I will forever remember him from my Childhood watching reruns of POLICE SQUAD and nearly peeing my pants with laughter at his AIRPLANE! and NAKED GUN work.

Thank you for all the many many laughs, Mr. Nielsen. Rest in Peace.

IRVIN KERSHNER PASSED ON

It is with great sadness that I post the passing of IRVIN KERSHNER, director of "STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK."

Empire is my 2nd favorite film of all-time and what I consider to be the best Star Wars film. Empire raised the bar for Star Wars, and the sequels/prequels that followed never maintained the same level of quality & awesome. When I think of Star Wars, it is the "world" of Empire that I see. The film transcends sci-fantasy & Star Wars itself, and stands on its own as an amazing, solid film. So much of this is due to Kershner.

Tonight I will re-watch THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK for the who-knows-how-many-time and raise a glass in Kershner's honor. Thank you Mr. Kershner. Your film continues to influence myself and a legion of fans spanning generations. Rest in Peace.

So its recently been brought to my attention that apparently my "ALIENS Insanity" has reached a new height. Apparently some "people" think its crazy (and stupid) that I have AMC's airing of ALIENS saved on my DVR when I have numerous copies of the movie on DVD as well as the new BLU RAY version. Pffffffff.

CARLO PAGULAYAN is currently churning out some killer covers for INCREDIBLE HULK(s). Why isn't he doing the interior art as well? If he was, I might actually buy the crappy book. But alas, he is not. Ho-hum.

Related news: Incredible Hulks (sigh on the plural) will soon have DALE EAGLESHAM on art duties. He just did a breathtaking short run on FANTASTIC FOUR and a really fun Steve Rogers mini-series (SUPER SOLDIER). I truly despise what Marvel is currently doing with Hulk, so I'm reluctant to start picking it up with Eaglesham's arrival. Although, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess it will be a short run, so maybe I can stomach it.
