This has been bothering me a lot about Marvel over the years. It's this notion, or idea that by inserting popular ideas, and concepts from great and inspirational works, that your being creative and clever. Stories like Akira, Works from H.P. Lovecraft, Games like Final Fantasy,..they should all INSPIRE artists and writers. But some where along the way, there's been a disconnect. There is no constructive, or even critical thinking anymore. As if the ability to explore these ideas and grow as an artist is no longer present. These guys seem to be people who want to dazzle someone with stories that he/she loves, showing the masses "what they've been missing" and at the same time, be granted the praise and acceptance by those who share their passion for acknowledging these ideas. All the while displaying no critical thinking, and having no individual, creative, idea. I love Star Wars, but I don't want to see Jedi's fighting Thanos, I don't need to see Mech Warriors as Sentinels, I don't want to see a Shi'Ar wielding the Sword of Leah, and I don't want to see the Old Ones breaking thru a dimensional rift. It's not clever. It's not good story telling. It just comes across as 13 year old fan fiction. -You are absolutely right, MARVEL is completely out of ideas.
well in that case the character K-9999 from the videogame the king of fighters is more of a rip-off of akira it even has the red cape and makes the same arm movement in the second pic,but yeah its a shame marvel is going that path
Sorry, I only have what preview images are available online. If anyone has more images (scanned), please feel free to email them to me: jimsmash@gmail.com
From what I recall, K-9999 also had the same voice actor as Tetsuo from Akira. That wasn't so much ripping off the design as "We are putting Tetsuo in this game even though we don't have the rights to do so."
When SNK-Playmore did KOF2002 Ultimate Match, an enhanced remix of the game, they replaced K-9999 with a new character named "Nameless", with a new look, a new story, and a cybernetic hand.
