A quick "doodle" I did to post on the Say NO to the DC reboot facebook page.

* It's just having a bit of fun, before you get your britches all in a twist and unleash a rant of pro-New 52 obscenities in the comments.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Sweet, fun, energetic poster for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

And Marvel announced today a new 'Guardians of the Galaxy' comic which features the original, futuristic Guardians.... well, just the male characters, it appears. The title will be "Guardians 3000", written by Dan Abnett and art by  Gerardo Sandoval.

MAD MAX IV: FURY ROAD

via Geek Tyrant and Entertainment Weekly:

The director had this to say about the story in a brief statement:
"I wanted to tell a linear story–a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes. In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed."

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

TITAN'S LIL ALIEN FIGURES

Check out Titan's Alien TITANS: The Nostromo Collection, which incluces the entire crew of the USS Nostromo (and the Alien) in a 12 piece collection.

I'm tempted to pick this up since I'm a diehard.... but I don't know... these don't really speak to me. I might grab the ALIEN and an EGG.... maybe Lambert, because............. sigh, Brett & Parker together would be fun...

sigh... man, now I'm envisioning all of them on the shelf, and its looking pretty sweet.

If they make an ALIENS set that includes everyone, I'll definitely pick it up.

TIM BURTON'S 1982 'HANSEL & GRETEL'

AT LAST!! For you obscure media fans, here is one of legendary filmmaker Tim Burton's early efforts in collaboration with The Disney Channel that aired only once on Halloween night in 1983.

This is Burton's unique, twisted, Burtonesque version of the classic Grimm Fairy Tale featuring an all Asian cast. Hansel and Gretel are the two children of a poor toymaker, whose evil stepmother wishes to do away with them to avoid starving. After being intentionally led away in the woods, they come across a gingerbread house attended to by a bizarre, but seemingly nice old hag with a candy cane nose! (played by the same male actor as the Stepmother) who turns out to have evil designs for our heroes!

After the initial airing, Disney Channel execs were so distraught by the frightening subject matter, that they never allowed the film to be shown again. Thankfully, someone managed to tape it that night, which provides us with this footage.

HELP AMY K - (UPDATED)

[pic not of Amy's actual collection]

Let me tell you a tale of sadness, anger and hopefully compassion....
Your fellow Comic Lover, AMY K, is going through a divorce. A few weeks ago, without permission, her Ex sold her entire Comic Book Collection to a local store. Over 8,000 comics for $400. She seeked legal and police help, but because they are still legally married, there is nothing she can do. She even attempted to purchase the comics back from the store, but the owner did not "want to get involved in the domestic dispute" and refused to sell them back to her.

Over 8,000 comics, collected from Childhood, gone. Amy emotionally recalled how many had sentimental value... her father taking her into town to buy new comics... searching for that 1 missing issue and thrill of finding it..... Its just heartbreaking. And infuriating!!! But unfortunately, what's done is done.

However, being a Comic Fan means you are part of a larger community (whether you know it or not). And we fellow comic fans are going to help her rebuild that collection. Amy sent me a requested wishlist of those issues that meant the most to her. You can see the list HERE.

I've gone through my own collection and pulled doubles and those I'm willing to part with, and am going to send them to her! I think I have about 60 comics so far.... and plan on pulling more as I continue to go through the collection. Also, now that I have her list, I will be keeping an eye out at Conventions, Comic Shop Sales, etc.

If you would also like to help Amy, check out her wantlist HERE.... if you have any you're willing to donate, let me know and we'll work out getting the books to her.

Thank you in advance!!!

---------

UPDATED: The response has been amazing, with donated books already being packaged up to send out! Thank you, you wonderful generous people! I have updated Amy's want list, HERE, including a 2nd list at the bottom that just lists those issues donated. I will do my best to keep it updated. If you have any questions, please let me know. And again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

BOSSK / DOCTOR WHO / RAF

This is cool... while I had known about the costume/suit/Bo Shek (what Stars Wars fan doesn't, right?) , I did not know it was also used in Doctor Who, nor did I ever make the effort to look at the real suit. Thanks to those who are not lazy like I am.

via kotaku:
One the right is the bounty hunter Bossk from The Empire Strikes Back. One the left, a character from the 60's Doctor Who serial The Tenth Planet. In fact, Doctor Who didn't create the uniform either...
The suit is a High-Altitude Windak Pressure Suit used by the RAF in the 60's:

And Bossk wasn't the only Star Wars character to wear the suit. A-Wing pilots and cantina denizen Bo Shek wore it different colors:
