SO, IS DEADPOOL MIMIC?

In the latest Wolverine Origins trailer, DEADPOOL is shown shooting optic blasts (ala Cyclops) and sporting "Wolverine Claws". So.... what the hell? Have they turned the Merc With A Mouth into MIMIC? When I saw the image, I immediately thought of the EXILES comic (above). I wouldn't mind having Mimic in the movie (trivia: not a mutant!), but don't turn Deadpool into another existing character, man! If you're going to have Deadpool, then frickin' have Deadpool, ya know?

...and because I'm a fan of the original MIMIC, here he is. YAY MIMIC!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: ok, so there's debate that its NOT Deadpool, but "WEAPON XI". Apparently Reynolds has said an in interview that it is Deadpool, though. Shrug.

Yay Mimic!

I hope it's morph from the cool 90's x-men cartoon.

Or maybe it's hulk's dad from the ang lee version and they're going to turn into a cloud and fight at the end.

at the risk of sounding like an argumentative git.....

Reynolds says it IS Deadpool, but IMDB says differently, that's it's WEAPON XI.

After images of a toy based on the new character had everyone thinking he could be a scarred-up Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), the new trailer (and recently posted casting info) seems to offer a different take on the character’s identity.

Sporting a pair of claws similar to Wolverine, but with a sealed-up mouth and, late in the preview, an optical blast a la Scott “Cyclops” Summers (who also appears in the clip), the new mutant’s live-action debut is generating a lot of questions.

...one of the biggest questions regarding the clip has to be “Who is that creepy-looking dude in the ‘Wolverine’ trailer with his mouth sewn shut?”

Given that a vast majority of online sleuths are saying it’s Deadpool, we figured we’d go directly to the source and ask Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds if the mutant we see in the trailer is indeed Marvel’s “Merc with a Mouth.”

“That, I would say, is Deadpool, yeah,” Reynolds told MTV News. “When I’m in the scarred makeup too, and you’ll see closer shots obviously in the film, and it’s hard to even tell that’s me, but you can tell. You’ve just got to find a better shot.”

“I’m not going to get into exactly what’s going on with his mouth, particularly because he is ‘the merc with the mouth,’” added Reynolds when asked, given his previous response, what it was like to film with his mouth sealed. “But it’s going to be pretty interesting when people see it. People are going to be blown away and have a deep appreciation for what it is and how that character fits into this universe.”

However, the movie cast listing on IMDb indicate that the mysterious new mutant is played by Scott Adkins, and goes by the name of “Weapon XI.”

Weird. Why would Reynolds go around saying that's Deadpool?

So it *was* Deadpool, wtf... unless there was some kind of cloning going on or something that they didn't reveal in the movie. But then why would his mouth be sewn shut? Dunno, this movie was pretty good, and most of it was fairly accurate, but this just seems pretty dumb to me. We'll see what they do with it in the Deadpool Origins movie in 2011 though, if it isn't canceled.
