BATTLESTAR GALACTICA NEARS IT'S FINALE

Last night's episode has me believing the writers have nothing.... they have no idea where they're going and are just running out the clock. I think this [awesome] series could have been widdled down to 3 or 4.

Anyway, dig this Barbarella-esque pic featuring some of the Galactica Gals; Grace Park, Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer.

You're too right Mr Smash -- Galactica is in its closing minutes and we get an Adama kid chasing a pigeon round his apartment. And the president eating sushi. Unless the final reveal is a giant sushi pigeon, the writers were just padding.

Don't even get me started on the piano guy. It's a bit late for character development.

Still, not something a bit of decent editing couldn't fix.

There is a great story line out there that should have played out in the final season. The mysterious music, the Kara Thrace mystery. It's like the writers are more focused on the destruction of what's left of the human race than telling the real story. And they are doing it in such a gruesome, self mutilating way it's become hard to watch. My wife gave up. I've got to see how it ends, but I think the writers who did this have a dark spot in their souls. Some type of loathing, self hatred and hatred for the human race that is reflected in the storyline.

Yeah I've been hating on Galactica all season. So for once your smashings and I agree.

It really was an obvious bit of cynical padding in the second-to-last episode: here's some pigeons and sitting around in fountains.

Oh, and in the last five minutes -- next week we're going to attack the Cylons! Tune in!!!

Perhaps we could have less pigeons and pianos and they could have shown the start of the assault on The Colony? I guess that would have cost money... although I don't know what the union rate for pigeons is these days. At least we now have a pretty good idea what the spin-off series Caprica is going to look like.

There used to be a Star Trek-themed bar in London a few years ago. I'm going to open a Battlestar Galactica-themed one called the Pigeon and Piano: it'll start off really interesting, but then nothing will happen for weeks until people start to wonder why they went there in first place and get a bit embarrassed about it. The music will only be a bit of Dylan that you can kind of hear, but have no idea what it's doing there.

When almost everyone has stopped coming to the bar, it will suddenly explode and I'll open another bar with less SF in it, but it will have a big fountain in the middle and futuristic prams. And people will stay away.

What kind of pathetic writers would have flashbacks as a major part of the next to the last episode of a series? Duh... if they haven't done their character development by this point it's a good sign the writers have no idea how to write a plot.

My prediction: Most will die rescuing the child and Gaius Baltar will lead what is left of the human race. The writers seem to love Baltar. They've described him as a typical human, amazing since he is a shining example of the worst traits of the human race. Kill everyone who ever showed any trace of strong character and put what's left of the human race in the hands of the man who betrayed his people and has almost single handed caused their extinction.
