ARCHANGEL WAS COOL

Behold the ARCHANGEL bust! I must have. I must have. Archangel, in this incarnation, is one of my all-time favorite characters. During the time of his transformation from Angel into Archangel, I was 13 and it was the coolest shit on the planet. Unfortunately, dumbasses in the 90s at Marvel changed him back to the normal boring Angel. Boooo. When I win the lottery and buy Marvel, that will be rectified.

Here's some back info on Archangel:
Warren Worthinging III, originally ANGEL, one of the 5 founding members of the X-Men. Later as an adult, he reformed with his original team mates and formed the first X-Factor. Warren's wings were severely damaged during the Mutant Massacre storyline (he was crucified) and his old friend Cameron Hodge – who was secretly anti-mutant – had his wings amputated. Hodge sabotaged Warren's ultralight airplane to create the illusion that the depressed Warren commited suicide by blowing up his plane. Warren was secretly spirited away by the ancient mutant Apocalypse. Apocalypse altered Warren's appearance, giving him blue skin, organic metal wings and the ability to fire his metal feathers as projectiles. He also gave him the title of Death, the leader of his Horsemen. When it appeared as though Death had killed his former teammate Iceman, he overcame Apocalypse's brainwashing, but did not rejoin X-Factor spending some time as a loner called "Dark Angel" (this was mainly due to his state of mind following Cameron Hodge's murder of Warren's true love, Candy Southern). After the events of Inferno, he finally rejoined X-Factor, taking the name Archangel at Beast's urging. Cameron Hodge returned during The X-Tinction Agenda, and Archangel.......

You can read the awesome 3-issue storyline where he is first unleased as Death in the trade paperback FALL OF THE MUTANTS. Those X-Factor issues collected in there (along with 3 Uncanny X-Men and 3 New Mutants issues) is one of my all-time favorite moments in comics. Or, check the back issue bin at a comic store and grab X-Factor (vol 1) #15, 19, 24, 25, 26 and 34.
