You are wise beyond your years, Jen.

ALIENS is my all-time fav movie. I saw it 3 times in the theater and after that first viewing, I remember saying to my parents, "I want to do special fx when I grow up" which led me onto the path I'm now - doing visual fx for movies. I've seen ALIENS atleast over 100 times, if not 200. :)

hey chicken wing!

i don't think i've ever looked at an alien head so close before (i know, bichboom!), but i was wondering, are they half machine? what's with all the perf-pipe looking stuff? and do they have eyeballs on their chins? can they see, or is it like t-rex vision? please advise. you can email me if ya want, oh alien brainiac. grrr!

If only my parents would have taken me to Aliens, instead of Behind the Green Door.. my life would have been soo different...

The original alien design, designed by Swiss Surrealist H.R.Giger, was biomechanical, hence all the tubing. In ALIENS, James Cameron and Stan Winston slightly changed the creature. The removal of the clear dome on the head being the most obvious change. They still kept with the tubing, but integrated it more into the overall design of the creature, whereas Giger's was slightly more "cyborg" like, for lack of a better description. So to answer your question, NO, they are not part machine....they just have elements to them that look similar. Imagine the tubing more like textural aspects. And NO, the aliens do NOT have eyes. It's unknown what their vision is based on (like T-Rex's is based on movment... according to Jurassic Park. heh). But they do not see like we do.

Any other Alien biology question, just let me know!!!! :)
