TOTAL COINCIDENCE
Whoa.... 4 Japanese themed post in a row... total coincidence, with no conscious thought behind it!
ROBOTECH X MACROSS & BABYMETAL ! ! !
Earlier this year MCawiezel introduced me to the band BABYMETAL which infuses Death Metal with J-Pop. I became an instant fan!
While listening to their songs, my mind kept drifting to Macross/Robotech.... epic space battles, with the sounds of Babymetal freaking out the minds of the evil invading Zentradi forces who are unaccustomed to any type of Culture and lack the capacity for creative expression (ie Minmei singing during space dogfights). The imagery stuck and my love for Babymetal grew.
About a month later I stumbled upon a kickass edit on YouTube, by TETSUO Lawliet, where he cut scenes of AKIRA to Babymetal's awesome "Megitsune" - check it out HERE!
I flipped out and requested "Babymetal over Macross/Robotech"!!! Well, 2 months later I get an email from TETSUO Lawliet informing me he had indeed put one together with the Babymetal track "Ijime Dame Zetta"! Yay!
I am thrilled to present it to you, ROBOTECH X MACROSS & BABYMETAL!!!!
Holy shit, its fucking awesome!! It's like TETSUO Lawliet plucked something from my imagination and then made it 100-times radder!!
THANK YOU, TETSUO LAWLIET!!!!!!

ART OF ALIEN: ISOLATION
Product Description:
The Art of ALIEN: ISOLATION is a high-end art book featuring over 300 images from the latest game in the critically and commercially acclaimed Alien franchise. Taking players back to the survival horror atmosphere of the first film, ALIEN: ISOLATION features Amanda Ripley as the hero trying to survive on a decommissioned space station. The Art of ALIEN: ISOLATION is the ultimate gallery of the eagerly anticipated game, featuring extensive concept and development art, and creator and artist commentary throughout.
If you haven't seen the game play previews go check em out - they are gorgeous! I just wish the main character wasn't Ellen Ripley's daughter. Must EVERYTHING be connected? The idea of Ripley's adult daughter encountering an alien while Ripley is in hypersleep post-'ALIEN' is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard of. The God of Imagination weeps.
Anyway, this book might be pretty.

THE WEYLAND-YUTANI REPORT
There are some new ALIEN/S books on the horizon! This one being 'THE WEYLAND-YUTANI REPORT'
via AVP Galaxy:
“Inside Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report, you will find detailed information on the life-cycle of the xenomorph, those who had the misfortune to come into contact with it, the habitats in which the creature has been encountered, and a breakdown of the most effective weapons to use against it, from pulse rifles to flamethrowers. The last word on the alien, Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report contains all the information you’ll need to track down one of these creatures, and maybe even survive the encounter.
This in-universe book will utilize over thirty years’ worth of Alien movie concept art, production design art, film stills, and other visual assets to create a deeply engrossing reading experience that will thrill fans of the franchise. Covering events and characters from Prometheus, Alien, Aliens, Alien III and Alien Resurrection, Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report will be a uniquely immersive journey into a world that has thrilled audiences for over three decades.“”
This was previewed at the New York Comic Con and it would seem no-one has really taken note of this release. It will evidently weigh in at 160 pages and 20 inserts, coming in hardback format for $50. Insight Editions is set to be publishing it but there’s currently nothing on their website about it. There is no release date as of yet. Thanks to Cvalda for the news.
I was excited about this book until I saw it included 'Prometheus'. Ugh. Hmm, I suppose I could rip those pages out, right?...but that feels wrong. Guess I'll just not buy the book. Good going, unknown Studio and/or Publisher person who I'm villainizing!
*thanks, Willie!

SPIDEY-OCK RETURNS.... SORT OF
I loved the SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN run and was sad to see "Spidey-Ock" go so soon. Well it looks like we'll get a couple more issues of Octavius web-slinging....
via Newsarama:
Remember that flash of the Superior Spider-Man teased during C2E2 (it's the image above)? Well now we know, we’ll be seeing Superior Spider-Man #32-33 in August and September of 2014.
Of course, Otto wouldn’t let a little something like his death and his expulsion from Peter’s mind stop him from having an encore! Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Giuseppe Camuncoli (#32) and Adam Kubert (#33) will weave the web of a two issue story that tells where (and when) Otto as Spider-Man went when he vanished in “a flash of temporal energy” in Superior Spider-Man #19, Gage tells Marvel.com. The nine hours that he was missing disappeared from his own mind, and the events just before and after, including Spider-Man 2099 being stranded in the past, became the more important story. Gage teases, “Is this an untold chapter of the past, a tale of the future, or both?”
Well, it’s at least leaning into the future, editor Nick Lowe says, as these issues will actually “kick off the edge of Spider-Verse,” the massive event coming to Amazing Spider-Man this fall that will see virtually every incarnation of Spider-Man ever show up in its pages. In this two-issue story, Otto Octavius, the Superior Spider-Man is in the year 2099, and wants to merely find a way back to his own time - but “a Peter Parker Spider-Man, a very different one from the one we know” stands in his way, says Gage.
I say return Spider-Man 2099 to his proper timeline (please) and bring Spidey-Ock with him. It can then be a buddy book where Spidey-Ock redeems himself and becomes a true hero... but who still calls people "Dolts!" Call it SUPERIOR SPIDER-MEN 2099 (or not).
