NO, I WILL NOT BE SEEING 'PROMETHEUS 2'
I've been asked by several people what my thoughts are on the upcoming 'Alien: Covenant', so I figured I'd answer with a quick post.
I have no interest. And have no plans on ever seeing it.
'Prometheus' changed the alien from a "natural creature" to "mutagenic goo byproduct", and changed the Space Jockey from "alien species pilot" to "giant human" (100% shared DNA, remember)... who seeded life on Earth.
These are facts and there's no getting around them.
And from what I gather, Giger's Alien is now created via experimentation by the mad scientist android David(?). Fuck off.
'Prometheus' ruined everything I loved about the Alien and the Alien Mythos. And 'Alien: Covenant' is literally 'Prometheus 2', so why would I go back for more?
No, I will not be seeing 'Alien: Covenant'. Nor do I plan on watching any future outings, so long as the have any connection to 'Prometheus'.
^ Ridley Scott's Giant Human ripping off my head.

Maybe I'll chop off the bottom under 'ALIEN' :)

PROMETHEUS ENGINEERS CONFUSION
Awhile back I had the above image up on my screen.
A young coworker walked past and exclaimed,
"Oh cool! Is that a new Engineer for 'Prometheus 2'?!!!
With sadness and anger in my heart, I politely informed him,
"No.... this is Bolaji Badejo, the actor who wore the original Giger alien suit in 'Alien'.
"Oh... it looks like an Engineer.
'Prometheus' was totes beta! Can't wait for the sequel!"
No Hope for the Future, I tells ya.
Ok boys and girls, gather 'round.....
THIS IS NOT A 'PROMETHEUS' ENGINEER:
^ This is Eddie Powell,
one of the 'Alien' stuntmen in who wore the suit.

THIS IS NOT A 'PROMETHEUS' ENGINEER:
^ This is Tom Woodruff Jr,
wearing the 'Alien3' suit.

'TOMORROWLAND' WOES
Sources say Disney's 'Tomorrowland', penned by Damon Lindelof ('Prometheus'), is expected to lose $120 to $140 million by the time it finishes its global rollout.

NO TOMORROWLAND FOR ME (THEATRICALLY, ATLEAST)
I *was* going to see Brad Bird's 'TOMORROWLAND' until I found out it was written by Damon "Prometheus" Lindelof.

ALIENS: FIRE & STONE
The 'Aliens: Fire and Stone' mini-series is an abomination, fusing [films] 'Aliens' and 'Prometheus' into an Anti-Jim Monster of Sorrow.
So colonists on LV-426 ('Aliens' movie) escape the alien infestation on Hadleys Hope and fly over to a sibling planet LV-223 (sigh). There they encounter more aliens and of course Prometheus Engineer ships (NOT Space Jockeys!) and mutation-inducing black goo. It's a hot mess of stupid.

THE WEYLAND-YUTANI REPORT
There are some new ALIEN/S books on the horizon! This one being 'THE WEYLAND-YUTANI REPORT'
via AVP Galaxy:
“Inside Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report, you will find detailed information on the life-cycle of the xenomorph, those who had the misfortune to come into contact with it, the habitats in which the creature has been encountered, and a breakdown of the most effective weapons to use against it, from pulse rifles to flamethrowers. The last word on the alien, Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report contains all the information you’ll need to track down one of these creatures, and maybe even survive the encounter.
This in-universe book will utilize over thirty years’ worth of Alien movie concept art, production design art, film stills, and other visual assets to create a deeply engrossing reading experience that will thrill fans of the franchise. Covering events and characters from Prometheus, Alien, Aliens, Alien III and Alien Resurrection, Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report will be a uniquely immersive journey into a world that has thrilled audiences for over three decades.“”
This was previewed at the New York Comic Con and it would seem no-one has really taken note of this release. It will evidently weigh in at 160 pages and 20 inserts, coming in hardback format for $50. Insight Editions is set to be publishing it but there’s currently nothing on their website about it. There is no release date as of yet. Thanks to Cvalda for the news.
I was excited about this book until I saw it included 'Prometheus'. Ugh. Hmm, I suppose I could rip those pages out, right?...but that feels wrong. Guess I'll just not buy the book. Good going, unknown Studio and/or Publisher person who I'm villainizing!
*thanks, Willie!
