Hugh Jackman, Brian Singer, and Daniel Way, have single handily helped ruin Wolverine as a character,....I just feel bad for an entire generation of readers that have had to grow up reading and knowing this ridiculous, cliche', bastardization of what the character has become.....(He is not the friggin Linchpin of the MU,..please stop tying him into every f'n character known to man...) man,..he used to be awesome......
This is what happens when Marvel lets artists trace photos. Illustration FAIL. But great inking and coloring you two keep your jobs mr pencils - you go back to school.
I think that wolverine in this picture has been replaced by the chameleon... so mystery solved.
On to the next mystery... is that supposed to be a knife in her hand... or like a wolverine claw? cause... that doesn't look like any thing convincing...
I wouldn't blame it on Hugh Jackman. Artists can get pretty sloppy when it comes to Wolverine's height. 5'3" isn't a height that comic book artists are probably used to for any character, much less a muscular male hero.
I'd guess that most artists just think of him as "short", anyway. And "short" in a world of large men can drift into "normal size" territory. It doesn't take much more to go from there to "taller than some women", and then you end up with an artist that doesn't have a problem with Wolverine being taller than Mystique.
And if you draw Wolverine to the right scale, it can even look weird to some people, who simply don't realize how short he is really supposed to be.
Using photo references, which has become increasingly popular, makes it even worse as even if you know his height, it is hard to get pictures of anyone of Wolverine's height and build combination.
The best image in recent memory is the cover of the first issue of Wolverine & Jubilee, as they are pretty much the same height (as they should be, by their stats).
i see what your saying Bain, But that's the point of the post. Artists SHOULD know these characters,..they SHOULD be able to draw to scale,...this is one of the reasons why most of MArvel titles drift into cliche' obsurdatiy with 'wtf is this crap" moments, bc the writers AND artists don't know or understand the scource material, or worse yet, they fail to have the vision and imagination of the "Marvel Universe". They are too worried about form, and structure, and trying to rationalize and explian things that don't need to be explained ( people have powers,.u don't need to try and explain it thru modern scientific explainations,..or worse yet, treat them as if your playing a glorified card game........) so they can wrap thier heads around it it's not an excuse. I had a good friend of mine exemplify this after watching X-Men 3, saying.." yea,..but it would look dumb to have a leading man at 5'3" trying to kiss Jean,..do you relly want her to have to lean down to kiss him?" -uh,..yes,....
anonymous has good points & is correct in his/her (probably his. ;-p) ire.
...and, no, i'm not kissing my own ass right now. lol
anyway, Hugh Jackman is a fine actor and all, w/ a FACE that seems to fit the role (as well as not being a skinny little shit, which would have BEYOND "pissed people off"), but the height is, in fact, WAY off.
sad that, in any way, he's become the "immediate thought for Wolvie" in people's minds, but you can't change the past & it could've been worse. admit it, you know it could've been WAY worse, despite his Origin movie pretty much totally royally SUCKING.
if there was an actor at least a little CLOSER to the 5'3" height (there HAS to be one out there somewhere & camera tricks could help make up a little difference) that has some bulk (NOT fat) that looks good in the face (w/ some extra hair and maybe a tiny bit of prosthetics if needed?) that was in a Wolverine movie that was almost exactly like the recent WOLVERINE VIDEO GAME that accompanied the recent let-down of a film...
well, just that put together would make me shoot my shorts & i know i wouldn't be the only one 'cause the delicious gore of that game made me squeal w/ fucking delight. heh heh heh

Well yeah...he's obviously standing on a milk crate.
or maybe she's shape-changed to a 4'7" Mystique
Sorry Jim, Hugh Jackman retroactively made him 6'2" with the success of the X-Men movies. Miss the short stocky hairy ball of rage.
ha great pic, jim!
hugh jackman's version contributed greatly to ruining wolverine.

I wonder if while they're changing the height thing for correctness, They could also make him not look like a hairy chick playing dress up.
