Via blastr.com:
The Topeka, Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, which is headed by Fred Phelps and which has made headlines over the past few years for a series of protests of events such as the funerals of Meet the Press host Tim Russert (because of his Catholicism and what they termed his "tolerance of homosexuality") and Jerry Falwell (whom they termed a "false prophet') and perhaps most notably the funerals of American servicemen killed overseas, have announced that they plan to picket the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con from 1:15 pm to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 22.
The reason they're going to protest the con? We think it's best described in their own words, as posted on their website:
"Are you kidding?! If these people would spend even some of the energy that they spend on these comic books, reading the Bible, well no high hopes here. They have turned comic book characters into idols, and worship them they do! Isaiah 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: 9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not. It is time to put away the silly vanities and turn to God like you mean it. The destruction of this nation is imminent - so start calling on Batman and Superman now, see if they can pull you from the mess that you have created with all your silly idolatry."Awesome.

God sure is a hater these days - and those folks sure have a bead on his hatred. They're calling everyone out... What's that saying about the log in your own eye? LOL
I wanted to attend one of their "funeral pickets" with a baseball bat and go all Samson on their self righteous asses (as in King James version of a Donkey) but my wife wouldn't let me.
America really have strange people...
God doesn't hate nerds, but he does hate Mattel. He also hated how Lost ended. And he's got all sorts of hate for Marvel's current Vampire storylines. And God really hates what Morrison did to Batman and that whole Final Crisis debacle. God hates that the most.
From the book of Exodus 35:30-33 (ESV) “Then Moses said to the people of Israel, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft.
If these dolts would actually spend even some of the energy that they spend on making their stupid signs, reading the Bible, they would know that that the gift of art is from the LORD himself, well no high hopes here.
I knew about these verses from Exodus long before I took my first class at an accredited seminary. I’m thinking that in-depth studies of Scripture and classes at a seminary are probably not high on the list of things to do with the Westboro folks.
Sorry for bringing theology into the mix but I think these clowns need to be put down with the sword they so reprehensively and improperly wield.
I will not be offended in the slightest if you delete the comment if I'm out of bounds...
Gasp!
God hates Frank!!!
;)
Why did He have to go and take Geekhood away?! Seriously, God...you're no fun. *sob*
Ummm..."For GOD so loved [the elected few]"? I don't think so. Thank you, Westboro Crapbags, for giving God and Christians a bad rep...yet again. Ugh.
Let's settle it once and for all, at the protest outside the convention center:
Jesus vs. Superman.
Well, Superman is susceptible to Magic...
