FUNKO POP : SAVINI JASON (VIDEO GAME)

via Friday the 13th Fandom Wiki:

Savini Jason
is a form of Jason Voorhees exclusive to Friday The 13th: The Game. The form is designed by legendary special effects master artist Tom Savini (Who worked on effects for Part 1 and 4)

[Jim Side Note: I met Tom Savini once at DragonCon in like 1996. I was excited to meet him not only because of his professional work, but because I was about to embark on my journey into Visual Effects. Sadly, he was a giant, disrespectful fucking asshole.]

The design for Savini Jason is based off how Jason would've looked if he had escaped Hell after The Final Friday. He has horrible burns and wounds and Jason's weapon is the Devil's own pitchfork, taken from the hand of Lucifer himself.

Savini Jason seems to be designed with more vanity than he can feasibly use in the hands of a casual player. That aside, his primary playstyle seems to border on the "slasher" archetype, in which Jason benefits from attacking and pursuing counselors outright as opposed to grabbing them and diversifying his kills.

Savini's strengths include Shift, allowing him to use it longer, as well as reducing his cooldown, Weapon Strength, which causes his attacks to deal more damage, and Destruction, which enables him to break down doors in a reduced number of hits. Combined with a starting total of five bear traps and two throwing knives (alongside the two available in the shack), as well as a 50% longer weapon reach, Savini has all the tools necessary for a very aggressive and hostile method of playing.

Savini Jason's weaknesses are either negligible or very situational. His inability to run can be worked around via careful use of his heightened Shift ability, as well as his Morph ability. Also encouraged is the use of aggressive trap placement, however playing it safe and trapping key locations is equally beneficial. His poor grip strength can be negligible in most cases, and completely irrelevant if the grabbed counselor is carrying a pocket knife. Lastly, his poor water speed is very situational and can only really pose an issue if a boat spawns in the map.

Counselors are encouraged to act quickly when faced with this Jason. Kill Jason strategies are somewhat discouraged, as Savini's heightened damage output and longer weapon reach can easily shut down any such idea in only 3-5 attacks. A viable tactic against this Jason is working in small groups and having plenty of high-stun weaponry to keep Savini at bay while performing tasks such as vehicle repair and contacting the police or Tommy. Ultimately, a counselor capable of staying on the move has a far greater chance of surviving an encounter with Savini Jason, as he excels in situations where counselors are at a stand still.

Overall, Savini Jason is a powerful antagonist and one of the better Jasons to use in the game. However, with that said, his playstyle is not the easiest to master. In fact, one could argue that his greatest weakness, is being in limited quantity, creating a niche playerbase as a result.

DOUCHEBAGS OF THE DAY: 2 PIECES OF SHIT

Two Pieces of Shit in Florida were arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing comic books valued at $30,000 from their grandparents’ comic book collection, according to Pensacola ABC affiliate WEAR. Citing an arrest report from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the news station says that Nicholas and Robert Mason were charged with grand theft and 16 counts of dealing with stolen property.

According to the police report, the brothers stole the comic books while doing housework for their elderly relatives and sold them at variouslocal comic book stores.

"They said that their grandparents had owned a comic book shop," said Rick Ferrell, owner of Loot Castle, one of the comic book shops involved. “They led me to believe the grandparents had passed away and the comics had been left to them.”

^ worthless dog shit with no honor

According to WEAR, the grandparents – Johnny and Shirley Pate – are alive, and considered their comic book collection ‘as part of their retirement savings.’
"If you're going to do something like this, think twice because you're going to get caught," said Santa Rosa County police sergeant Rich Alloy.

WEAR didn’t disclose what specific comic books were part of the alleged incident, or if they would be returned to the Pates.

AMAZON DOUCHES

I don't understand why some people on Amazon.com price their shit crazy high. For example, this guy is selling his copies of 'Star Trek vs Legion of Superheroes' #5 (Allred variant cover) for fucking $1,025.00. That the eff, bro? The book can be found elsewhere for $5-10. So why the ridiculous markup? I've seen other similar massive markups on amazon and don't get it. But I know that I'll never buy anything from World's Most Expensive Comics and Toys, on principle alone.

DOUCHEBAG OF THE DAY: ANONYMOUS NEWSARAMA STAFFER

I haven't done a fun "Douchebag of the Day" in years, but sometimes my hand is forced. So first, a few days ago Newsarama posted the "10 Best Comic Book-Based Movie Performances of All" and omitted Christopher Reeve's Superman from the list. Blasphemy, to be sure.

Today they posted another listing, by the anonymous "Newsarama Staff" where they say Christopher Reeve's Superman was the 9th WORST comic-based movie performance of all.

TO WAR!!!!!!

* UPDATE: ok, so Newsarama writer Vaneta Rogers has chimed in with her own posting stating that Christopher Reeve's Superman is THE BEST. Thank you, Vaneta!
