I'VE GOT A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS

*Disney announced this week they will be making a "Young Han Solo" movie.

...well, seeing as though "old Han Solo" would rather play "crappy old guy anything else" than "old Han Solo" for the last couple decades or so...

Having said that, if Justin Bieber is anywhere even remotely near the upcoming Star Wars anything, RIOTS SHOULD BE HAD.

Been staying far away from any "news" regarding these upcoming Disney SW projects, as it's all speculation until I buy a ticket. Rumor this, possible that, I don't care.

It just simply, "better not suck".

Ha, yes... Old Indiana Jones breaks my heart. I don't want to see that done to Han. :(

And uou said it... As much critiquing, complaining and whining as we fans do, in the end it comes down to that:

"It just simply better not suck"

of course, its all subjective. I know many fans who LOVE the SW Prequels, AVP movies, JJ TRek, Bay's Transformers, etc. Too each his own.... but please make them for ME!

ME ME ME ME ME ME! :)

NO, dammit, MEEEEEEEE!!! lol

...subjective it all is, indeed. I have a geek base of understanding, grew up w/ this stuff & nearing 40, but if something entertains me on a base level, then I'm cool w/ it. AVP, Transformers, SW Prequels... I can honestly say:

"There's much, much worse out there and there are aspects of these that made me go, 'ok, that right there was pretty cool'." :-)

I found it easier than not to be able to separate the geekness to be as objective as I humanly can be w/out being a total blank slate like many females are.

I know, I know, some geek girl just got mad at me for saying that, but c'mon... You know that female geekdom is a new thing and many still are just into lame ass romcoms & etc!

*weeping at 'Old Indy'*

Hey, at least it wasn't another "President who punches a dude on an airplane" role! lol

I hear you. THere's something to be said about simply finding the silver lining with things and focusing (and enjoying) those good moments when they come by. Its definitely healthier.

But for me I also don't want to feel like I'm taking a defeatist approach (me, not you) and simply eat whatever is put in front of me and ask for more (again ME, not you). Sure there are worse things out there than say "Batman & Robin", but that won't make me enjoy that film.

Sounds like we're about the same age. This stuff is what influenced me my entire life and help guide me into the career I am in now. It continues to influence me. Its not just a fun thing from my childhood (me, not you) - I never stopped loving this stuff. So to see when things go off the rails or off into a direction I do not like it really bugs me.

Such is the gift of being a geek - we are passionate about this stuff! :)

...definitely passionate indeed.

I feel ya, though, and agree for the most part. I don't like when some "SO-CALLED NEW" direction is being taken. In the comics? Fine, great, do what you want. Make Superman a black dude, Joker a chick, Black Panther some white kid, whatever.

But stuff on the big screen... There hasn't even really been GOOD ORIGIN STORIES on film yet!!! I mean, it's 2013 and we JUST got an Avenger's movie and are still waiting for a Justice League one?!?!

Gotta get this stuff ironed out before going all weird and waaaaaaayyyy off-rail, THEN I think I'd be cool w/, like, a "Red Son Superman, who just so happens to be an Asian/Black/Whatever dude". lol

...but, yeah, I definitely feel ya on the "trying to find the best balance between expectation and just being a sheeple", indeed. I've been able to do it to the point where I eventually said, after a few viewings...

"You know... Despite still being a big time douche, Bret Ratner's X-Men 3 wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen".

Trust me, it still feels weird saying it, but it's true. Just Grammer as Beast was worth it.

Anyway, cheers to geekdom!
