POLARIS STATUE
I'm not sure how many POLARIS fans are out there to warrant a statue being made, but I welcome it. This would look nice next to a HAVOK statue no one has yet to buy me.

SNAKE EYES & TIMBER STATUE
Yummy! Check out this new SNAKE EYES & TIMBER statue by Sideshow! There's 2 versions; "COMMANDO " and "NINJA" versions (ie 'Snake Eyes I & II'). I'm conflicted. You see, Snake Eyes II is my favorite... but the the turtleneck doesn't go well with the visor/ninja version... it DOES, however, go well with the Commando one, but we all know Timber only goes with Snake Eyes II. INNER CONFLICT SUPREME!! This struggle is the only thing stopping me from buying this... well, that and the $325 price tag. gah!

RIP: GENE COLAN
The Comics Industry has lost one of its GREATS...
Legendary artist GENE COLAN passed away Thursday at the age of 84.
Colan was a trailblazer for comics, specifically his Marvel work, where he co-created BLADE & THE FALCON. His DAREDEVIL and TOMB OF DRACULA work are to this day synonymous with the characters themselves.... as are IRON MAN, NAMOR, CAPTAIN MAR-VELL, HOWARD THE DUCK and DR STRANGE.
Gene Colan was a rockstar and has influenced generations of comic fans (whether they're aware of this fact or not!). Thank you for all your awesome work, Mr. Colan!
Here's but a few examples of his gorgeous work:

HOT TOYS' MOVIE CAPTAIN AMERICA 1/6TH SCALE
As usual, Hot Toys puts out some nice quality work.... Personally, I wish it wasn't the Movie Version costume which I'm not a huge fan of. I think its the puffy shoulder pads and how the eye-mask forms around his face... I'm referring to the one the actor wears, as this Hot Toys version looks much better. I also like the more muted blue tones seen in these photographs.
I'd love to see a more "authentic" (for lack of a better word) version of the WWII Cap.... something more akin to to Bryan Hitch's WWII design and this custom by Elvis1976:

1/2-SIZE MYSTIQUE BUST
UPDATED: I previously posted that this bust was life-size but I was mistaken. It's 1/2 scale.
I like this short-lived incarnation of Mystique. Writer Sean McKeever was doing great things with her in her now-cancelled monthly series... and from what I read, had even greater (IMO) plans for the future. I was really sad when Marvel decided to cancel the series. While the first few issues sucked, I thought it got really good from #7 and on.
Recommended Mystique:
Mystique #7-24
or the collected editons:
Vol 2: Tinker, Tailor, Mutant, Spy (with great art by Michael Ryan & Manuel Garcia)
Vol 3: Unnatural (with great art by Manuel Garcia)
Vol 4: Quiet (with great art by Manuel Garcia)
* Mystique #1-6 written by Brian K. Vaughn

EX-SOVIET ARMY MONUMENT
From Mail Online:
Twenty years ago you would have been shot for stepping too close to this monument in Sofia in Bulgaria. But after the smashing of the Berlin Wall, statues celebrating communist rule appear to be fair game to the graffiti artists of the former Soviet block in Eastern Europe. The giant monument was built to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Russian 'liberation' of Bulgaria in 1944. An anonymous artist transformed Russian Red Army soldiers from a monument in the city of Sofia, in Bulgaria, into popular superheroes and cartoon characters.....Read Article

MODERN NOVA BUST
I may have to pick this up... especially since I regrettably missed the Full Statue version (goddamnit!!). I never liked Nova until his most recent incarnation. Now he's one of my favorite characters.
Hey Marvel, when's the 2nd Oversized HARDCOVER coming out already? Jeez!
