I WANT A FRANK QUITELY LEGIONNARIE BOOK
I saw the cover to Superman/Batman #75 by FRANK QUITELY and got all giddy at his LEGIONNAIRES on the bottom! Quitely is really hit-or-miss with me... sometimes I truly dislike his work, other times I'm blown away by it. With the above, I'm obviously a fan. It instantly made me wish for a monthly LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES done by Quitely.... maybe with Grant Morrison on writing chores??
Morrison could definitely handle the weird, imaginitive quirkiness required... but I'm not sure he can write the fun, light-heartedness that is Legion. I'll stop there before I full-on geek out.
Anyway, a Quitely Legion would rule.

ALIEN 3 FIGURE PICS
As I surf the Net for ALIEN stuff, I often come across sweet pics by the infamous Sabres21768.... and today its happened again. Check out these pics from 2007 of Hot Toys' DOG ALIEN... while I'm not a fan of the Dog Alien itself, I do dig these pics:
Regarding the diorama, Sabres21768 says:
"All credit for the killer dio goes to Reverend from The Hive.
One hell of a talented fellow and great to deal with."

THE PRINCE AND THE POOPER
Hey check it out! JimSmash Reader BEN GRANOFF has a new webcomic called "THE PRINCE AND THE POOPER" over at Ben Vs Dov. Ben posts:
Dov is abroad, he’s doing something in Europe. Finding himself. I don’t know. He would sometimes mention wanting to write a novel, “probably about my life”, so we’ll see. In the meanwhile, I’m going to put up pages from the current BenVsDov comic. The work on this book both follows up and moves beyond our previous collaboration on “Dingleberry Blues” (http://benvsdov.com/dovs_comics/db_index.html). We plan on sticking to poop-themed titles until the ideas stop coming.
We’re going with a Cerebus-style production assembly on this one; that’s to say that Dov draws the figures and I handle the backgrounds. We’ve been drawing and writing together since elementary school and ‘TP&TP” is our most elaborate scheme to date.
A page a week!
–but I’ll give you three to start things off…

ALIEN PREQUEL ART PITCH?
JimSmash Reader RYAN sent this pic to me - its apparently an unused design for the upcoming ALIEN PREQUEL(s) by Adonihs who says:
I like the SLEEK BLACK look and semi-biomechanical feel (ie not Pumpkinhead). But there's still something about it that I don't love (remember, I'm quite picky). I think the overall design & shape reminds me too much of the creature design from ALIEN3, which I'm not a fan of. Maybe its the mouth/lips....
But I do dig Adonihs' markings on the shoulders and beneath the head dome. And the beforementioned sleekness adds a really nice feel to the Alien. It would look awesome in the darkness of space aboard a space vessel... or inside a Giger Hive. Anyway, its a huge improvement from the Resurrection and AVP versions.
I'm posting Ryan's email as well (hope you don't mind, Ryan) cause I like what he says:
Thanks, Ryan!
And hanks to Adonhis for sharing his design online!
So I was given an opportunity to do a pitch piece for the new Alien prequel based off of a design H.R. Giger did for one of the previous Alien movies (which was not used).
This was not intended to be the actual design, nor was it used for the new Alien film. As for where we are with the whole process, who knows. But thought you guys would like to see.
Enjoy guys!

Hi Jim,I'm a long time reader. I too share your love (and hates) of the alien franchises. I fell in love with the first two movies and ever since then it has been a slippery slope downward into the abyss of AVPR. I've sent your "hating the predalien" post to a number of friends who thought he was "cool". I hate the Pumpkinhead aliens with extra articulated legs. I hope we get back to the sleek, sexy aliens but I just don't know anymore. Fool me once, shame on you Fox. Fool me 5 or more times... and I'm a fool for spending money on your crappy movies.I just ran across this concept art piece on DeviantArt that the artist said was a pitch for the upcoming prequals. I am not excited about them in the least but it looks to be a return to the earlier alien design. Also it says it was rejected which means they are probably stocked up on Pumpkinheads at the moment. At any rate, I thought you may dig this.Keep up the alien posts!-Ryan
Thanks, Ryan!

Awww, yeh! Look what arrived in the mail today! That's right, the VINTAGE-STYLE 12" BOBA FETT Figure in Giant VINTAGE-STYLE PACKAGING!
Digitally scanned from mint 3 ¾” Kenner originals and reproduced to a substantial 12” tall. Nothing has been overlooked. Injection molded and made of durable plastics, this jumbo figure includes a faithfully reproduced blaster and is fully articulated! That’s not all, this classic Kenner creation comes packaged on a 1980, Empire Strikes Back inspired blister card with a plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition convention exclusive!"This badboy is soooo sweeeeeet! It's a Star Wars Celebration V Exclusive, but I was able to score one from the Gentle Giant's Premier Guild Collector's Club Membership. I didn't buy the San Diego Comic Con STORMTROOPER exclusive, but couldn't pass this one up. And I might have to get the big HAMMERHEAD figure... and if they make it (please do!), a GONK DROID.
Here are 2 better quality pics of the BOBA FETT:

SPIDER-MAN 2099 IN "SPIDER-MAN: SHATTERED DIMENSIONS"
As you all know, I'm a huge fan of SPIDER-MAN 2099... primarily just for the COSTUME. Well you can play him in the SPIDER-MAN SHATTERED DIMENSIONS video game! Hell yeah! I have to get this game... and I wish they'd make a full-cg animated movie of Spider-Man 2099..... by Ridley Scott.
Here are some pictures!

HOLY BAT-TITLES, BATMAN ! !
This NOVEMBER is an interesting month for BATMAN FANS. DC is set to publish 2 NEW Batman books (yeesh!) which is total overkill. But a positive spin would be you now have more options to find that one Bat Title that's in-line with your tastes... or buy them all. Here's a rundown:
Recommended Nguyen Batman: "Batman: Private Casebook" and "Superman/Batman Vol 6: Torment"
Recommended G.Morrison: "Animal Man", "Doom Patrol", "Aztek", "All-Star Superman", "Final Crisis" and more.....
And if that's not enough to fill your Bat-Appetite, there's also these Bat-Related Titles: RED ROBIN, BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL, GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, BIRDS OF PREY, AZRAEL and always few Bat-MiniSeries!
Recommended Tony Daniel Batman: "Batman: Battle for the Cowl" and "Batman: Life After Death"

-DETECTIVE COMICS-
DETECTIVE COMICS #871 marks the arrival of new creative team of SCOTT "American Vampire" SNYDER (w) and JOCK (a). I've never read "American Vampire" but I do know Jock does some purty pictures. Snyder says this book will focus on Batman's DETECTIVE skills, which is an aspect often lost... especially in this book. Also, this will be the 2nd (of 3) Bat-Books with DICK GRAYSON as Batman (the others being Bruce Wayne). Release date: Nov 24
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM-
BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM #17. This title is written by PAUL DINI (of "Batman: The Animated Series") this title has a ...similar... feel to his animated works (but slightly darker). But for me, the real draw is the kickass art by DUSTIN NGUYEN! It's clean, crisp and awesome. Nguyen is quickly becoming one of my favorite Bat-Artists. Release date: Nov 17---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-BATMAN, INC-
Recommended G.Morrison Batman: "Arkham Asylum", "JLA Deluxe Edition Hardcover Vol 1-4" and "Batman & Robin Hardcover Vol 1"BATMAN, INC #1 is GRANT MORRISON's latest Bat-Project. It appears to be a quasi-TeamUp book with Batman, where he's training other heroes to be.... well, I guess members of his "Bat Team" where they will apparently wear his "colors" (whatever that means). Morrison says, "It's all about the franchising." Anyway, for Morrison fans this will be your book. Oh, he's also bringing back the yellow bat chest symbol. Release date: Nov 3
Recommended G.Morrison: "Animal Man", "Doom Patrol", "Aztek", "All-Star Superman", "Final Crisis" and more.....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT-
BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT #1 is DAVID FINCH'S Bat-Book where he will handle both writing and art chores. I have no idea what his writing skills are like, but his current art is like the child of Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri and Frank Frazetta's Spirit. The book will no doubt be "dark & gritty". Release date: Nov 24---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-BATMAN & ROBIN-
BATMAN & ROBIN #17 marks the debut of new creative team of PETER TOMASI (w) and PATRICK GLEASON (a). This was G.Morrison's book but I guess he got bored after 16 issues? It was also the adventures of DICK GRAYSON as BATMAN with little-shit DAMIEN ROBIN. But now that Bruce Wayne has returned, I'm not sure who will be under the cowl in this book. Tomasi and Gleason were awesome on GREEN LANTERN CORPS (sorry to see them leave that title), so I'm interested to see what they'll do with this book. (note: cover is not Gleason art). This is the 3rd (of 3) Bat-Book with DICK GRAYSON as Batman. Release date: Nov 10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-BATWOMAN-
Recommended Batwoman: "Detective Comics: Elegy Hardcover"BATWOMAN #0 is an appetizer for the upcoming monthly series. Batwoman was previously hanging out in Detective Comics by GREG RUCKA (w) and J.H. WILLIAMS III (a). This new series, however, does not have Rucka on writing, but instead has Williams. The art alone is worth the price of admission! Release date: Nov 24
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-BATGIRL-
BATGIRL #15 brings in new penciller DUSTIN NGUYEN (Batman: Streets of Gotham). Batgirl is Stephanie Brown (aka The Spoiler) and I've never read an issue of this title. I simply have no interest in the character, nor do I dig the new costume. BUT, I am a fan of Nguyen and the I hear this title sells well. So I'll check it out. I also wonder if Nguyen will do BOTH books or leave B:SOG? Release date: Nov 10
And if that's not enough to fill your Bat-Appetite, there's also these Bat-Related Titles: RED ROBIN, BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL, GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, BIRDS OF PREY, AZRAEL and always few Bat-MiniSeries!
