Obsidian Entertainment has confirmed the ALIENS RPG is officially dead. Based on the above images from the game, I could not be happier!! If you do not understand why I feel that way, you're either new to JimSmash (welcome!) or haven't been paying attention (hmph, Ignorer).

I blame ALIEN 3. Some douche in Alien3 production introduced to the Alien biology that it takes the form/characteristics of its host. Imagine if a facehugger jumped onto a PLATYPUS. Yeah, thanks.

Time Travel destination #003: 1990 and stop Alien 3 from being made. The "Alien Saga" is then preserved with only 2 movies. "Dream weaver, I believe you can get me through the night!"

OUTSTANDING COVER: ALIENS #3

SpaceJase sent this to me.... Its the cover to Dark Horse Comics' latest Alien series ALIEN #3, by Raymond Swanland. I really dig this imagery, despite it being the lame-ish "uber-sentries" first seen in "Aliens: Earth War". Remove those side mandible-spike-fang-thingies and the painting is pure undiluted awesome.

Too lazy to paint your own custom-made multi-emotional-spectrum Hal Jordan figures? (I know I am). Well you're in luck - just go to this year's San Diego Comic Con:

Through the Graphitti Designs booth, DC Direct will be offering San Diego Comic Con attendees a series of exclusive Hal Jordan figures based on his many appearances in the Blackest Night comic book series. Each figure, pictured above, will be released daily with limited editions. The first figure, the standard Green Lantern, will be available starting on Preview Night, Wednesday July 22 with a run of 3,000 pieces. Following that, attendees will have to go back every day to get the Yellow version (Thursday), the Blue version (Friday), the Orange version (Saturday), and the Red version (Sunday). The last four versions will each see a limited edition size of 1,500 pieces.

Each fig released each night and limited? Boooo. Well, look forward to seeing booth chodes selling theses figures at absurd prices. Spitting is allowed under these circumstances.

Oh, and anyone else think Blackest Night is going to end (or atleast feature) Hal Jordan wielding all the rings ala Infinity Gauntlet?

3) MOONWALKER; "Smooth Criminal", plus the arcade game was fantastical -you transformed into robo-MJ and kicked ass!

Farrah Fawcett succumbed to Cancer today. She was 62.

I will always remember her as a Charlie's Angel, having the 6 Million Dollar Man as her husband, "Logan's Run", "Extremities" (that was effed up!) and that classic swimsuit poster that thrusted me into Puberty.

PREMIUM BIRDSEED

One of my favorite blogs was artist Hunter Woo's WOOSPACE/WOO2 (which inspired me to create JimSmash). I've always been a big fan of Woo's paintings, so one of the aspects I loved was Woo's digital illustrations on his blog. Sadly, about a year ago, Woo2 went dormant.

Well, Woo is back with PREMIUM BIRDSEED, which is "an online creative lab with visual treats twice a week."

Bah! Well, I've been lucky enough to be included in the latest round of LAYOFFS at work. Soooo, JimSmash postings will be a little slower than normal as I job search & get resettled.....

Plus I recently lost some very important data that was to be used in future JimSmash postings.... GIGS worth of hundreds & hundreds of images (found & created) as well as in-progress posts of brilliance. All gone.

So yeah, JimSmash is getting hit on all sides here.

I'm still here.... just a bit pre-occupied and operating slower than usual.

Above is a concept art pic of DEADPOOL for the Wolverine movie (link). What I like best about it is how much he looks like ZARTAN from GIJoe instead of Deadpool. The concept artist states, "I liked this version of Deadpool and wish it had made it into the movie but it was very early on in development and the character's face had to be seen."

This is why Hollywood movies right now kick so much ass - the original, imaginative talent involved in the creative process. Yes, that's sarcasm.

FANMADE GREEN LANTERN TRAILER

ALIEN PREQUEL

You may have heard already, Fox is making an ALIEN PREQUEL.... it will be produced by RIDLEY & TONY SCOTT, and directed by commercial director CARL ERIK RINSCH.

*(although now reports are coming out that Fox is saying they will not greenlight the Alien prequel unless RIDLEY is in the director's chair)

I have little hope for this movie, which I find unneccesary. But my anger levels are quite low. You see, the last 3-4 Alien outings (Alien3 thru AVP-R) have already ruined the franchise. I simply lack the strength to give a shit anymore.

That aside, Ridley Scott as producer gives the flick some hope.... and Rinsch's commercials are imaginative, so there's that I guess.

I wonder if it will focus on the "Space Jockeys" from the first one. I know in previous interviews over the years, Ridley has said that's what he wanted to do if he ever returned to Alien. That and show the Alien homeworld... unless he goes with his other idea: The Aliens are bio-weapons and not part of the Natural Order (bah!).

Personally, I'm guessing it will tie the Ripley family to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, in a nice Lucas-esque "everything's connected" way with a big red bow on top. I'd rather see an epic with no humans, just Space Jockeys & Aliens with no [understandable] dialogue. I think most people would hate that, but I'd fucking love it.

But there I go again..... caring.... sigh.

RIP: DAVID CARRADINE - UPDATED

Whoa.... DAVID CARRADINE has died from an apparent suicide in Bangkok. Thailand police are reporting he hung himself in his hotel room's closet with a chord from the curtains. Carradine was 72.

I will always remember him in the KILL BILL movies, the KUNG FU tv series and of course as FRANKENSTEIN in DEATH RACE 2000!!!

UPDATE: Thai police say Carradine "was found in a hotel room closet with a rope tied to his neck and genitals, and his death may have been caused by accidental suffocation." But then other reports are saying his hands were tied behind his back.....
