HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NATALIE PORTMAN - MOON OF MY LIFE, MY SUN AND STARS

KENNER ALIENS

Yeah, I think I need to own more than just the 1 now, because those look pretty cool together....

BATMAN BLACK & WHITE STATUE: MAZZUCCHELLI VERSION 2

I have 2 Batman Black & White statues; Brian Bolland & Mike Mignola v2.

The only other B&W statue I've ever wanted is the DAVE MAZZUCCHELLI, which is based on his 'Batman: Year One' artwork. Just gaze upon its awesomeness:

Unfortunately I missed the short window when it was released and it has been existing in the jacked-up price of the Secondary Market (approx $300). Its just too expensive for my wallet.

Well DC has now released a second version! And like the other 2nd versions, they've swapped out the "Year One" Bat Chest Emblem for the OVAL emblem:

The Bolland statue's Oval Emblem works because Bolland's Batman wore that emblem. But with Mignola and Mazzucchelli, Batman wore the "Year One" emblem. As much like my Mignola v2, I would greatly prefer the Year One version.

So much, in fact, I just can't bring myself to buy this v2 Mazzuccheli statue. I know all I would is stare at that little sliver of oval emblem and be sadly annoyed - "That's not how it looks in 'Batman: Year One!".

* Many thank yous again to my friend Dylan, go gifted me the Mignola v2 statue. Yes it has the oval emblem, but I still love it.... just not as much as the v1 "Year One" version :P Love you!

'ALIENS' COMMISSION

by William Wacllace,
who made this for my buddy Timothy O'Brien.

Wacllace posts:

CYCLOPS VS SHADOWHAWK

It just now dawned on me that Cyclops "recent" costume design by Chris Bachalo reminds me of Jim Valentino's Shadowhawk from the 90s:

...and of course with some Racer X*
(but we've already discussed that)

* I used the pic from the movie because it's more akin to the costumes being discussed

'METROID' SHORT

PFC O'BRIEN

Lat week my buddy (and fellow 'Aliens' fanatic) TIMOTHY O'BRIEN attended Awesome Con in D.C, where he posted this fun pic of him holding a sweet Pulse Rifle replica:

So on my lunch break, I did a quick comp:

PFC O'Brien wants to know how to get out of this chicken-shit outfit.

'DC REBIRTH' COSTUME DESIGNS

While not perfect, I'm digging most of the costume [re]designs for 'DC REBIRTH' - a huge improvement over most of the shitty, overly-designed, 90s-cliche costumes seen in the 'NEW 52'.

Here are some examples of the new designs:

^ more akin to the current Cinematic WW
^ I dig it!
^ lose the gloves, and have him bare feet...
(I kinda miss the New52 collar)

^ still prefer the McDaniel design.
I hate the blue in the shins in this one.
^ yay, she doesn't look like a stripper!
^1000% better, and looks like Tim Drake.
^ still too many glowy lines

^ ready to pilot EVA

The new SUPERMAN design is an improvement, mostly. I never liked the armor - or should I say, the design of the armor. And the lack of color below the S-Symbol made for a dull aesthetic. So this 'Rebirth' design is pointed in the right direction, but misses the mark for me.

Gleason's initial 'Rebirth' design (below) was almost perfect, with the brighter blue,  yellow belt and red boots. (I could do without the wrist bands, though, since they disrupt the flow to his hands/fists).

His version still remains true to the classic look and feel, yet slightly alters it to a place where non-trunks fans can be happy, too. Gleason's design looks like an approachable good guy, whereas the final 'Rebirth' design has him looking more akin to a villain (read: Ultraman).

The 2 New 52 Designs I will miss:

New 52 SUPERGIRL, even with the funky red crotch:

and the New 52 WONDER WOMAN
(Bernard Chang design):

I don't mind the 'Rebirth' WW design, per se...
I just really like Chang's slick design better.
