The above is the album art for Iron Maiden's 8th studio album "No Prayer For The Dying", by artist Derek Riggs.
Years later, they re-released the album with altered album art; no grounds keeper. Weird.
This album was a big shift in sound for Iron Maiden, following their near-perfect album "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". Honestly, this album sucks. There isn't a single good song, IMO (some love this album... and they are wrong have terrible taste, haha). This new direction in sound was so bad, guitarist Adrian Smith left the band during early pre-production.
It's the "Highlander 2" of Iron Maiden albums.
Their next album, "Fear of the Dark" sucked, too. The title track has become a fan-favorite, but I find it lacking and shallow. The lyrics feel like they were written by a 10-year old. Lead singer Bruce Dickenson quit the band after their tour.
After "No Prayer" and "Fear of the Dark", I had moved on to other music and stopped paying attention. The next 2 albums had a new singer, a new sound and they were terrible (I didn't even listen to them until a decade later).
It wasn't until 2000 when Bruce and Adrian re-joined the band and they released a new album, "Brave New World" did I return to the being a fan. They've been on fucking fire ever since!
