BALANCE OF TERROR
LET THAT BE YOUR LAST BATTLEFIELD
"It is obvious to the most simpleminded that Lokai is of an inferior breed." "The obvious visual evidence, Commissioner, is that he is of the same breed as yourself." "Are you blind, Commander Spock? Well, look at me. Look at me!" "You're black on one side and white on the other." "I am black on the right side." "I fail to see the significant difference." "Lokai is white on the right side. All of his people are white on the right side."

This essentially boils down to a kickass submarine movie in space, with 2 "blind" captains out thinking and out maneuvering each other. Plus, you not only get to see Romulans for the 1st time, but the Romulan captain is portrayed by the delightful MARK LENARD who later portrays SAREK, Spock's father.

THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLESClassic fun episode that has a great bar fight scene with Scotty, Chekov & Crew against Klingons. Who threw the first punch?!:
(0:00-3:25)

THE GAMESTERS OF TRISKELIONBrains in jars with gambling addictions forcing the crew to fight in a gladiator arena with awesome "Barbarella" guards.
---
THE ENEMY WITHINA transporter malfunction splits Kirk into 2 beings; the Ego and Super Ego. Crazy Shatner at his finest! Plus you get that hilarious space dog with the horn, antennas and funky spine!
"The Cage" is the pilot episode with Captain Pike (yay Pike!). Later, 'The Cage" was integrated into the Kirk era Trek for "The Menagerie" where we see Pike's tragic fate. Man, Pike got fucked up!
---
AMOK TIMEFantastic gladiator fighting between Kirk and Spock.... and don't forget the music!

CITY ON THE EDGE OF FOREVERWritten by Harlan Ellison, many fans say this is the all-time favorite episode (I personally disagree). Kirk, Spock and a crazy McCoy travel back in time to WWII era America where McCoy screws up the timeline. Sounds cheezie, but its one of the more dramatic episodes. Guest stars Joan Collins.

BTW: Sarek is Spock's father... although his actual name is probably unpronounceable ;)
Jim you've missed A Way to Eden !! :)
"I'm gonna crack my knuckles and jump for joy, I got a clean bill of health from Dr. McCoy."
Judging from that photo the Gorn doesn't look all that much bigger than Kirk. A bit smaller even, perhaps.
I use the episode about the computer that took over the ship and ran on pure logic as an analogy for many situations we encounter at work and in government.
Was it Kirk or Spock that confronted it with a trick series of questions causing it to self immolate? None spellin Noerb....
These are some of my favorite episodes too, but I must point out that the photo from "Mirror, Mirror" does not depict Parallel Uhura.
