FLASH GORDON FIGURES + KAHN

Sweet Christmas! They're making kickass FLASH GORDON figures based off of ALEX ROSS' new artwork for the new dvd release! I think they'd look killer on the shelf next to the upcoming STAR TREK WRATH OF KAHN figures. Not only can you get KAHN, but you can also get the KIRK with blood-stained shirt o' guilt. Hmmmm, may have to also get that HIGHLANDER 2-Pack I posted about awhile back.... add KURGAN to the mix. I foresee JIMSMASH'S HALL OF VILLAINS coming to life on everyone's shelves. Make it happn, Ya'll!!! Maybe I'll make custom figure stands with "JIMSMASH!" on the base. Who wants some?!!!

CAPTAIN CORPSE

CAPTAIN AMERICA's comic and its future has been a reaccuring topic of late since the character was killed. Well finally CAPTAIN AMERICA #26 is about to come out; May 23rd. Its the first issue since his death and I'm looking forward to seeing where writer ED BRUBAKER takes us without the leading character. Here are 3 pages from the issues. Wow, seeing Cap like that is really fucked up. Yes, that's the point, but its still fucked up. I think the "Jesus Pose" is a bit much, but whatever. Personally, I think seeing his body like (undignified & arguably disrespectful) further diminishes the legend and the symbol that he was. But then again, perhaps that's the point.

MPOSIS

I was just exposed to this dude's illustrations. I like the loose factor combined with the anal-retentive graphic aspect. I dig the "Third Child of Galactus" (solo-left pic) simply for the reference and use of helmet alone. Again, seeing these make me want to pick up a pencil as well as never pick one up again.

TESLA ALARM SYSTEMS

You want your car protected? Then you need to get a TESLA COIL ALARM SYSTEM. Check that sucker out!! Ok, its not legal, but it looks awesome. Personally, I prefer something more low-key that is more than a simple deterrent. I'd rather use the system as seen in ROBOCOP. Fry the fuckers. Anyone recall the name of that security system? A wookiee cookie to the one who knows!

UPDATE: Ok, um, someone please make some wookiee cookies and give one to ALEX who not only told me the name of the Robocop alarm system (MAGNA VOLT), but sent me a YouTube link (below).

The Playboy boobs are a bit much, but besides that, I dig this custom. The Samurai homage armor is cool and works well with the Sci-Fi helmet design. Her face feels more like the first Predator movie version, which I prefer, and has some mean attitude. I think he did a great job in the skin texture and painting. I like the skin texture of her neck - its a nice touch to remind you this is an alien creature, not a stripper in costume (again, look past the playboy boobs).
Speaking of alien... I normally don't like seeing Predators standing over the dead body of an Alien, primarily because I don't give Predators that much credit, heh. Occassionally, its cool, but come on. Anyway, I really like Joe's stylistic touch on the ALIEN. Putting your own spin on the creature and have it still work is very difficult. And even though the back tubes are missing (ala ALIEN 3 version), I still like this alien very much. The predator being the QUEEN of the Tribe allows me to accept its demise..... I guess.

SUPERMAN DOOMSDAY TRAILER

The DC Animated Series we all know and love are bringing the now-semi-classic "DEATH OF SUPERMAN" storyline to animated life! If its anywhere within the realm of awesome that was the JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMTED series, then I'll be waiting impatiently to buy this sucka. It's scheduled for release Sept 18, 2007 (dang, that feels like a long way off). Here's the trailer, which doesn't show much....

Another custom Female Predator by Joe Dunaway. Ok, this one is simply waay too "I'm aroused by Monster Babes" for my tastes. The sculpting and painting is great, as alway by Joe. But the visual design approach is too fetishized, I think. Fans of Heavy Metal 2000 and Witchblade will probably argue against. To each is own (sickos). I keed, I keed.

BEATALLICA

The BEATALLICA album is finally being released! The band has signed with Oglio Records and their first album, "Sgt Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band", will be released July 10.

"Um, what?" you may exclaim...

Beatallica is a quartet who plays & sings like METALLICA but covers BEATLES songs (more or less - they mix it up). I haven't heard any yet myself, but fellow Metal friends have and give it a thumbs up. Even bands like Motorhead and Anthrax dig them enough to have played shows with them.

FEMALE PREDATOR III

Another custom Female Predator by Joe Dunaway. Oh wait, I think this is actually the same as the 1st post, just with a diff't base... oh well... maybe its the lighting, but I dig this more than when I saw that first pic back when. I like the attitude in the face. She looks scary and a bit psychotic. Body is a bit too "swimsuit model" for a Predator Warrior, tho.

I'm surprised they haven't incorporated this idea into the movies and video games. Surely there's enough lonely fanboys with no social skills who'd love to get off on Predator Fantasies. And yes I'm aware that I'M the one that keeps posting on this. Bite me.

FOOTBALL PLAYER VS TODDLER

Little 4 year old CAYDEN THOMAS is just fine after getting pummeled by a college football player. He had 30 stitches in the old melon, but he's apparently okay. Nice job to the Dickhead parent(s) who thought it was a good idea to bring their toddler to the sidelines of a football game. Colorado State hates children.

Not for the squeemish. But for those who like watching 4yr olds getting creamed by a football player.... (again, the kid is ok)

DRACULA II: CRUISE CONTROL

Have you heard of the upcoming movie THE UN-DEAD? Yeah, me neither, until today. Its a "sequel" of sorts to Bram Stoker's DRACULA, set 25 years after, starring the surviving characters. "The Stoker family has officially recognized Holt’s screenplay, the first adaptation to receive such approval since the original 1931 Bela Lugosi-starring film." Hmmm. So far the cast includes Javier Bardem (Dracula), Monica Bellucci (Lucy, prrr) and John Hurt (Prof Van Helsing, cool). There's also supposed to be a "new" character, Inspector Cotford, who was originally in Stoker's manuscript but was removed just before publication. As with any vampire/Dracula movie, this could go either way.... history tells us it'll be shit, but I like to keep hope alive, despite what you read here on JimSmash.

FINAL POSTER

This is apparently the final poster for HARRY POTTER 5. Personally, I enjoyed Book 5 the most (yeah, I know I'm in the minority) so I love the attitude in everyone's faces and body as well as the tagline. The movies have been eh-ok compared to the books, but I'm stoked for this outing nonetheless!

KRYTPONITE FOUND ?

Kryponite made the news today. Apparently, scientists have said they've discovered a mineral found in Serbia that shares virtually the same chemical composition as Kryptonite. Chris Stanley, a mineralogist at London's Natural History Museum, discovered the match after searching the Internet for its chemical formula — sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide. He said, "I was amazed to discover that same scientific name written on a case of rock containing kryptonite stolen by Lex Luther from a museum in the film 'Superman Returns.'"

Ah, see right there the story is bunk. I'm sorry, but NOTHING in that fucking movie can be used in the Superman Mythos. Now if a fanboy out there can find that chemical formula used in previous Superman Comics, then so be it. But like I said, NOTHING from SUPERMAN RETURNS can be considered a part of the Mythos. This is why Comics giving Hollywood their characters to use as they see fit is dangerous. Some chode "creator" decides to fuck with shit and suddenly it becomes fact. Case in point, The Joker did not kill Batman's parents. Sorry, but that was Tim Burton doing something different. This is also why Wikipedia can be dangerous. But that's another rant.
