ALIEN: 8TH PASSENGER

Andrew posted this over at his place and I just had to share! It's a life-size latex and foam ALIEN, formed on a steel armature with poseable tail. Its 7ft 7inch tall and based on Giger's original creature from the first ALIEN film. I freaking love it! The body is very skinny compared to the real one, but it doesn't bother me. It actually reminds me of KILIAN PLUNKETT's ALIEN drawings from the comic "ALIENS: LABYRINTH", a mini-series I loved (pick up the trade!). Anyway, this thing is rad and I want one for my living room. Hmmm, or my desk at work. Guess I need two of em. I posted more pics HERE.

HERO OF THE DAY: LASSIE

Today's "Hero of the Day" goes to a collie named "LASSIE" in Indiana. Lassie's home was on fire and she woke up her family enabling them to barely escape the burning home. Unfortunately, Lassie did not make it out. I know! SAD!!! But she was a hero and gave her life so others might live. Captain America would be proud. Rest in peace, Lassie! You're my hero of the day!!!!

DISNEY, YOU'RE DOIN' A-HECKUVA JOB

Disney's return to traditional 2D animated movies (WooHoo!!!) begins with "THE FROG PRINCESS" and will star their first African-American Princess, "Maddy." The story is described as "an American fairy tale" set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. "From the heart of Louisiana's mystical bayous and the banks of the mighty Mississippi comes an unforgettable tale of love, enchantment and discovery with a soulful singing crocodile, voodoo spells and Cajun charm at every turn." Plus Randy Newman on music, because there's still a few people out there not tired of his music in Disney movies. I mean, what better musician than him to make music about Black New Orleans?! The Villain is set to be George W. Bush, who does nothing throughout the entire movie, but does make a brief appearance at the end of the credits.

NEW GIJOE FIGS ROCK

CRAPPY SOAP

In keeping with this week's theme of shitty

(ie MARVEL, AVP and GIJOE/ACTION MAN MOVIE....)

Here's soap that looks like shit!

It smells like coffee, too!

(link)

GIJOE MOVIE IS GOING TO SUCK

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura had this to say about the upcoming GIJOE movie, "Action Man is the equivalent of G.I. Joe internationally pretty much. It's a different character, but pretty much the same idea and his name is Alex Mann. So we're creating a buddy movie between Duke and Alex. That's what we're doing. All the characters will be there and it'll be really fun..."

Um, what? So the GIJOE movie is really going to be "GIJOE & ACTION MAN" ala "Tango & Cash"? Nothing against the classic T&C, but come on man! He also said they probably will not call it "GIJOE" because it's not very marketable to a Global Audience. What's next? COBRA isn't a terrorist organization but instead just a bunch of Skinheads? Don't even make the goddamn movie, dickheads. Jesus. This shit just pisses me off. PISSES. ME. OFF.

KOTOBUKIYA AVP ALIEN

Another ALIEN model from the fine folks of KOTOBUKIYA. Neat sculpt and scenario, too bad its from AVP. The Alien looks like a hybrid of sorts between the "Dog Alien" of ALIEN3 and the Resurrection/AVP Aliens. Personally I don't like the pose. Its cool as a pose on its own for maybe another kind of creature, but not for the ALIEN. Still, if this fucker's $90 like the rest of Koto's models, I'll probably have to get it. Its a sickness. I'm quite aware of it.

ADAMA THE DESTROYER

Hey BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fans! If you saw sunday's episode "MAELSTROM" you saw the scene with Adama's emotional outburst thereby destroying a small sailing ship model! Well, apparently the violent moment was a bit of unscripted improvising on the actor's part. Er, and the ship wasn't a model... it was actually an extremely valuable museum piece. Oops! You can hear actor Edward James Olmos (Adama) talk about it here.

CAPTAIN AMERICA

*WARNING: If you haven't read CAPTAIN AMERICA #25 or heard the news on all the News channels, then DO NOT read on....SPOILERS IMMEDIATELY BELOW:
------------------------

Ok, besides the WAY Marvel revealed the death of CAPTAIN AMERICA, I think it was a poor choice in killing Cap. I know its a cheap marketing ploy (which in a way makes it worse) and either he's NOT really dead or he will eventually be resurrected somehow. DC did the same thing with Superman in the 90s, but with Cap its a bit different. And here's why:

Captain America is so much more than just a comic character. He transcends social, political, religious and cultural agenda's. He is a Hero, a Role Model, an Icon and a SYMBOL. A symbol of many things: Courage, Bravery, Freedom, Liberty, Human Rights, Civil Rights, Religious Rights, Honor, and most of all... HOPE.... He is what an imperfect country strives to be. What America strives to be. What WE strive to be. He is also a WWII vet and hero. In many ways, he will always represents that Generation. "The Greatest Generation" as Tom Brokaw wrote. But he is all of us; past, present and future generations. Soldiers, Citizens, Americans, all people from all countries; anyone who wishes for a better Tomorrow. In the end, Captain America is a symbol of HOPE. And to kill him destroys that hope. In a time of a polarizing war, Political partisanships, and a society that seems to be eating it's self from within.............. a heart-broken Joe Simon (Captain America Co-Creator, age 93) said it best today, "We really need him now."

HERE's what some fans are saying online.

STAR WARS: FORCE UNLEASHED

VENOM PICS FOR YOUR PLEASURE

(Sorry, Guys)
UPDATE: These guys have em!
Hurry before they're taken down!

ALIEN 3 ODALISQUE

Sideshow Collectibles has a new Alien maquette, based on the "Dog Alien" from ALIEN3. Ok design, nice sculpt and really nice paintjob me thinks. Although the proportions are bid off and overtly elongated in a Ingres' Grande Odalisque kind of way. But really, why the need for an ALIEN3 statue is beyond me. Especially since this little fucker costs $900. Is there that big of a demand for this design? I would think more people would want something from ALIEN or ALIENS. Regardless, its kind of a neat statue, especially for an ALIEN fanatic like myself.
You can buy it for me here.

(of the Alien statue, not the painting, silly)

JUSTICE #10 RULED

I'm so mad at Marvel right now (see previous post below). So here is a post to promote a great DC comic book:

Last night I read JUSTICE #10, the maxi-series by ALEX ROSS, JIM KRUEGER and DOUG BRAITHWAITE. Holy crap, it was freaking AWESOME!! This is why I read comics, for such stories as this one!

Looking for a kickass comic? Then pick up the first two collections now! (There will be a total of 3 collections once the final 12th issue is released).

Here's the skinny:
Lex Luthor and other major villains share vivid dreams of Earth's destruction, which Superman, Batman, and the rest of the Justice League are helpless to prevent. To keep their vision from becoming reality, the villains join forces to vanquish the heroes, in the belief that relying on supersaviors makes humanity vulnerable to apocalyptic events. They find a way to defeat the Justice League, while looking like heroes to the public.
Covers to the first 2 collections, on sale now:

DOUCHEBAG OF THE DAY: MARVEL

Hey Douchebags!!! Thanks for spoiling today who dies post-Civil War, the day the fucking issue comes out. It's not even 10am and as I'm reading the news, there it is on MSNBC, CNN, YahooNews, etc. Great! You couldn't have waited, say, a fucking DAY? You know, allow people to go GET the fucking issue first? Thank god Quesada (Editor In Chief) and crew aren't in charge of movies: "The sequel to Star Wars, 'THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK', comes out this friday! Go see it, cause its revealed Darth Vader is really Luke's father!" or "Bruce Willis is already dead and helps a young boy who sees dead people!!" Man, fuck you, Marvel. Thanks alot, Dickheads. I call bullshit and yet another stupid desperate cheap marketing grab for money. Go blow a whale, Marvel. You suck. My money's going somewhere else from now on, assholes. Oh, and I'm not even going to go into WHO they killed and why.

Wait, I still have some fire left on this one...
In regards to characters dying and just coming back, Joe Quesada said "Times are different now. There was period in comics where characters would just die and then be resurrected. And the death had very little meaning and the resurrection had very little meaning." You fucking hyporcite. Off the top of my head, the following characters have come back from the dead under YOUR watch: COLOSSUS, CAPTAIN MAR-VELL and BUCKY, Yes, fucking BUCKY!!! (and FOGGY NELSON - thanks, Frank) God, you make me sick, JoeQ.

(oh, and Ultimate Beast, Thor, All the Asgardians and Hawkeye....)

Read DC Comics.

TUESDAY TELL A FRIEND

JIMSMASH: TELL A FRIEND!

BRING BACK JIM HANKS

Since HOLLYWOOD is currently being run by unimaginitive idiots, focused on remakes, sequels and making a quick buck, I thought I'd help them out with an idea for sequels. Reignite Tom Hanks' delightful brother, JIM HANKS, and cast him in the same roles as his brother (he's much cheaper than Tom's salary!). Here are a few sequels you can put into effect:

* PHILADELPHIA: RESURRECTION
* ROAD TO PERDITION 2: DIE HARDER
* APOLLO'S 14
* SAVING PRIVATE RYAN II: UNIVERSAL SOLDIER PART IV
* FORREST GUMP 2: TWINS (brother & brother on screen together!)
* JOE VS VOLCANO (crossover with Tommy Lee Jones)
* BIG 2: THE NEXT BATCH
* THE DaVINCI CODE II: REMEDIAL IDIOCRACY
* CASTAWAY 2: CHUCK DOWN UNDER: THE AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURE TO SAVE WILSON
* FAMILY TIES: THE MOVIE: UNCLE NED'S RECKONING

NUDE GYM

You may have heard the news about a great idea of having a NUDE Gym. Well here's a pic of said gym. I really can't express how disgusting this idea is. At first you'd think "hell yeah, nude hot people working out." No. If you've ever been to a gym, I think you know how this is a really really bad, and health hazard infested, idea. I hate finding sweat puddles on benches and seats, let alone skid marks. *shudder*
