SPIDERMAN BLACK COSTUME
This post is for all the Spidey fans out there who will understand this rant. The spiderman on the left is the Spiderman in the upcoming SPIDERMAN 3 in his "black costume." As you can see, its just the normal Spidey costume but in blacks. No, your eyes do not deceive you, it truly is that dumb and unimaginative. On the right is a fan-made pic of what could have been: Spiderman in the actual REAL Black Costume. Seriously, would it have been that hard to make it that way? It would have been freaking AWESOME!!! Did the movie makers do ANY research? Jesus Fucking Christ.

OSCARS
A few comments about last night's Oscars:Jon Stewart as Host. Man, he kind of bombed last night, didn't he? Don't get me wrong, I thought he was funny as always, but the audience seemed like they were asleep. All his jokes were met with bland expressions. Did ANYONE want to be there last night? Seriously, were all the guests given rods to insert up their humorless buttholes upon entering the theater?
Wallace & Gromit winning for Best Animation. Hell yeah!!
Phillip Seymour Hoffman FINALLY getting some recognition!!! He is one of my all-time favorite actors. The dude is freaking talented.
Crash won the Best Picture??? Er, ok....
Jennifer Garner tripping and almost eating it! I think that was the highlight of the evening. Plus, WOW - she looked amazing! I could hear Bry fainting and hitting the floor in Boston all the way over here in LA!!!!

PIMP MY CUBICLE
Do you, too, have the luxury to work in a cubicle? Sucks, don't it? Well have no fear, my fellow worker ants! Coming soon to a discount rack near you: "Pimp My Cubicle" kit! Includes gold pushpins, a mini disco ball, a dollar-sign paperweight, leopard-print fringe and an adhesive gold keyboard key. Funny.
Personally, I prefer go to with the "Office Dork" theme. Below is a makeshift collage of professional items that brighten up my desk at work - a true path to promotion I'm sure!!!
I'm so cool.(note the lack of Jim Lee shoes)
JIM LEE SHOES
Every generation must out-do the generation before them. Rock gets more lewd, piercings become plugs, etc. The Comic Dork community is no exception. Behold the new level of "Dork Wear": Jim Lee Batman Converse shoes!!!!
While risking inter-company crossover, these would would go nicely with the Marvel Club shirts, which I thought WERE the peak of Comic Dork wear.Hmmmm, maybe those shirts are still the peak.
GALACTICA: MARY McDONNELL INTERVIEW
The Hollywood North Reporter has a brief interview with MARY McDONNELL, who portrays President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica."I think the most important thing any of us can learn right now – the essential element to our survival – is that the concept of “the other” is the wrong path. Because essentially, it’s within. These people in the fleet are in a very, very painful moment in their evolution as they come to terms with that, and the Cylons are there to provide a lesson. The question is, what does it take for a society to recognize the reflection of themselves in the enemy and lay down their weapons?"
McDonnell kicks so much ass on the show. I couldn't imagine another actor portraying that character, which shows how much she brings to the table.

TRU IS BACK
Attention: Dorks!Get your credit cards ready and clear off some shelf space - Toys R Us has won their lawsuit against Amazon.com and will now have their own website once again! In 2000, the two companies signed a partnership at the height of the Internet stock bubble, in which Amazon handled all of TRU's online ordering. All was well for a time, and many smaller toy stores were shut down under the big Corporate Boot, but then Amazon started to sign agreements with rival retailers including Target. So now TRU is breaking up with the Amazonian and going solo once again.

BORN TODAY: WILLIS O'BRIEN
Happy Birthday to WILLIS O'BRIEN! For those of you who don't know, O'Brien did the FX for 1933's King Kong, which revolutionized special fx. The innovative ideas and techniques developed during the film are still used Today, albeit with different tools. If you haven't watched the newly released KING KONG original I highly recommend it.
The 2nd disc includes some great footage and information on O'BRIEN and what he did. Unfortunately, O'Brien passed away in 1962, but his birthdate is still celebrated amongst geeks. Without him, special effects would not look like they do Today.
CONGRESS LOVES HUSTLER
So, apparently there's something about the public being able to seek redress from Congress which means they have to accept whatever mail comes to them. Which is why for decades, Larry Flynt has been sending the latest edition of HUSTLER magazine to all 535 members of Congress every single month. Free of charge.“It's a disgusting abuse of the system,” Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah says. “It's a nasty, tricky little thing to do by a person with no conscience.”
Funny. More here.

HERMIONE'S A DRUNK
Um, I don't think that's butter beer, young lady!!
What better image for a child role model than a pic of Hermione drinking a Corona at the age of 15? Way to go, Ms Watson. You are now well on your way to joining the classy responsible likes of Tara Reid, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears and the Olsen Twins as good solid role models for young girls everywhere.
50 points from Grifyndor!!!

PRAISE THE LORD, PASS THE AMMO
Praise the Lord!!! Christians are finally getting a video game geared toward them: A high-caliber shoot-em-up game set in Manhatten with a level of violence reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto! The game is based on the "Left Behind" books in which players are left behind after the Rapture and scour the streets for converts, training them into a work force to feed, shelter and join a paramilitary resistance against the growing forces of the Antichrist. No word yet if you can beat up a Gay person or bomb an abortion clinic for xtra points. Oooh, too far with that one?
I'M WITH STOOPID
D'oh!!!According to a recent survey, only one in four Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. But more than half can name at least two members of the Simpson family.
It also showed that people misidentified First Amendment rights. About one in five people thought the right to own a pet was protected, and 38 percent said they believed the right against self-incrimination contained in the Fifth Amendment was a First Amendment right.
"It's funny because its true."
A bit more here.
STAR WARS VS STAR TREK
Most were lame, but these were humorous. Email me additions and I'll repost with a full list later.
9. The Enterprise needs a huge engine room with an anti-matter unit
and a crew of twenty just to go into warp -- the Millennium Falcon
does the same thing with R2-D2 and a Wookiee.
8. Picard pilots the Enterprise through an asteroid belt at
one-quarter impulse power. Han Solo floors it.
1. One word: "lightsabers"
