Back in february I posted about
DAVID MACK ripping off artwork by
ALEX MALEEV and
ADAM HUGHES for
NEW AVENGERS #39 (post 1/ post 2). Well here are some more examples of that New Avengers issue where Mack swiped from
Adam Hughes, specifically the
GEN13: ORDINARY HEROES 2-issue mini-series that came out in 1996
(source).
For those non-comic readers, the pages with Echo (in BLACK) are from Mack's New Avengers... the characters in GREEN are from Hughe's GEN13 issue.

Adam Hughe's girlfriend & manager, Allison Sohn, chimed in a bit over at a Newsarma forum,

Some "light box techniques" as they call it:

seriously??????,..and this guy has a job why???????
this is high school/ freshman art school crap. how is he NOT being warned/punished/fired??? for this.
I'm totally serious here. How can a "professional" who works for a Major cooperation (yes MARVEL is a cooperation,..not the "house of Ideas anymore) blatantly copy some one elses work, (not to mention the cheap ass light box "technique") and not be called out for it.....
-This is a slap in the face to all the legitimate artists, who are struggling to try and break in to the biz.

Corperation,...Corperation.....
sorry about that.....
is there no end to this?
on a side note...this is so wrong!

Powerful playmate
The new Hulkey Pokey Hulk ($29.99), for ages 18 months and up, gives toddlers and preschoolers an interactive superhero toy designed just for them. The cuddly comic book star speaks fun phrases, spins 360 degrees, dances and sings two songs, including “The Hulkey Pokey.” Toddlers can watch or dance alongside him for some smashingly good fun.
If your going to rip off a real person's photo, at LEAST you could make it believable. I'm sorry but the 5 4' 110 llb. model/actress with no muscle tone what so ever,..(looks mopre like a 12 year old boy in drag) does not emote a highly skilled ninja, or a anyone for that matter that poses a threat.
-If you want to go for "real" then how bout do some research and do "real"
I do not think this is a case of going for photo real and/or ripping off a real person's photo, as with the Greg Land posts. This is pure copying another person's ARTWORK.
I like it!
^haha
johnny,... I know the point is about ripping peoples art off,..I was just following up with saying, that a ALONG with ripping off people's art, he trys to establish him self as a "realistic" artist. That was one of the appeals he had.
MY point, was that even when trying to do "realism" he fails, bc it seems he has no knowledge of hieght/weight/and proportions. Things an artist should know.
-as seen in the examples given.
maybe that's why he copies OTHER artists! ha!
It's a shame!!!
I like Mack's Daredevil comic...
I'm disgusted.
Thanks for sharing it.
Greetings from Spain.
