I normally don't post much about comics. If you know me, you know I'm a huge comic fan, but to talk about comics here (or ALIENS for that matter) runs the extreme risk of those subjects taking over the blog (like how Star Wars did for awhile - sorry).
Anyway, Marvel has just announced they are going to cancel SPIDERGIRL with issue #100. If you're a comic fan, you probably already know that Spidergirl has been on the cancel-chopping-block many times before due to low sales, but always seemed to defy death due to fans pushing people to increase the monthly sales at the last minute.
But alas, this may be it for her, which is a terrible shame. The book is fun and light hearted and is one of the few books out there that still has the fun quality comics used to have, like in the 70s/80s. Also, its one of the few books out now that you can hand to a child and have no worries about the subject matter being too dark or adult.
So if you're a comic fan, or know comic fans, please go buy Spidergirl. Help support this fun book and keep it on the stands.

I own a comic book store, and we usually can't sell the one copy of this we always buy. Boys don't want it because the main character is a girl, and girls don't want it because many are not into the whole super hero thing. (they prefer manga for some crazy reason)
Yeah, I can see that. I think Marvel needs to advertise it more and possibly put a new artist on????? I mean, fanboys buy X-23 and tons of other "teenage girl superhero" stuff...why not this one?
Also, what IS up with girls being way into Manga? Everytime I'm in a Barnes And Noble, there's always a girl 10-18(?) plopped down in the aisle reading manga. Weird.
