THE WALKING DEAD

After being awakened at 3:30am last night from a wicked nasty zombie nightmare (heh), I thought I'd do a quick spotlight on a truly great Zombie series:

THE WALKING DEAD, by Robert Kirkman.

First, let me just state that this book is fucking awesome. OK, with that out of the way, let me tell you a bit about it...
The Walking Dead is not your normal zombie book/story. Instead of focusing on the zombies, it actually centers around the emotions that all the families & characters involved go through, instead of focusing on how or what hapened and/or trying to stop it - this shows how everyday people would handle a world full of zombies. The book is ongoing, with rotating cast members as the story progresses. Much like TV's The Shield or 24, you leave each issue/episode on the edge of your seat waiting for the next one. You truly get attached to the characters and when one dies, you feel it (yes, major characters DO die... no one is safe in this book). While set in a world where zombies have "taken over", the twists and turns stay realistic and believable.
Do yourself a favor and pick this up, especially if you're a zombie fan. Even if you are not a zombie fan or comic fan, I think you will enjoy this book.
It would make a great HBO series!!!!

Pick up the first graphic novel HERE, which covers issues 1-6 of the monthly ongoing comic.
Or, better yet, find your local comic book shop and support them with your money!

* and No, I wasn't reading The Walking Dead last night before I went to sleep.
