For the love of god!

Jim has been replaced with a skrull who loves things instead of smashing them!

ehh...was ok,..Bendis just needs to stick to editing, and let someone else do the writing....(among other nitpicking things..)

Some people nitpick too much.

sorry to chime in again, but i personaly think, that reasoning behind the secret invasion is pretty lame. Religion has never really been that big of factor with the skrulls (unless someone slipped it in there in the 90's, i checked some quick references and found nothing) But now all of a sudden they sound like Monks from the 14th century.....what's wrong with skrulls just acting like,..i don't know,...skrulls??? (conquer planets, expand the empire...ect..)

...yes phillip, I do,( what can i say)..It's because i care too much about this genre and expect too much out of these guys. it's better than it has been for years,..but it's still not great by any means..... .

The art was weak, but the story was pretty good. it'll be interesting to see if this makes the serious changes that've been rumored.

It can't have been that much of a Secret Invasion, after all they made a comic book of it which means the artist new they were coming !

The Skrulls are unable to focus on conquering planets, expanding the empire, etc because their homeworld was destroyed by Galactus (FF#257).

Skrull religion has been mentioned before. Their religion is government-based and heirarchal, with the War God "Sl'gur't" being their 'main' deity (FF Annual #24), and Val'kla'mor being their after-life place (like heaven). So this isn't a new concept.

I disagree they are running around like 14th century monks. So far in Secret Invasion, they have simply said "He loves you". That isn't overtly religious to me. In the captain marvel miniseries, there is a cult revolved around him, but those are "humans" worshipping Mar-Vell... not really Skrulls practicing their own religion.

While religion has not really been that big of a factor with the Skrulls thus far, I do not see why introducing new ideas, further exploring their culture and building upon characters created 30years or more ago is a bad thing. Skrulls simply being conquerors gets old as is rehashing ideas and stories. Unless you want your skrulls to be essentially Klingons, spewing out the same crap over and over and over.

And it looks like Secret Invasion is a story of Skrulls trying to conquer earth and expand the empire. Hmmm, sounds like Skrull behaviour to me. But I'm not a Marvel expert, although I have been reading Marvel comics from the late 60s, through the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, which has given me a unique insight regarding comics and life. Change is inevitable and healthy.

I can't believe my first jimsmash comment is me nerding out like this.

old fart,..yes i know were your comming from,..and i remember all the old stories you picked out,(i'm not an 'old fart',..but i have been collecting for a good while)..and I agree that I too do not want to see skrulls act like Klingons,( but your too late for that,.it's already been put in there..) BUT,..they refer to "the prophecy" and scripture several times, and Bendis when discussing the story said the skrulls were using "manifest destiny" as a reason that earth should be the new homeworld. It's because there "god" has promised it to them as there 'promise land'. That is what i do not like. I have no problem with developing characters and moving them along in life,..what I don't like (and spider man just had to do a lame 're-boot' because of it) is when a writer just completely pulls something out of his ass and changes the charactes completely, all the while claiming it's in the name of "character developement". please don't think i'm trying to be a dick or anything, i just find the whole reasonong lame. There are so many other motives for the invasion, turing the skrulls into relgious fanatics all of a sudden just seems rediculous and unnecessary.
