GREG LAND RUINS PIXIE

I'm really beginning to hate Greg Land as a comic artist. Besides his blatant tracing, he's really regressed in his artwork, abandoning almost all of his own artistic talent. His figures look like they are all derived from the same 3 issus of Maxim, Flex Magazine and Playboy. The last straw....

One of my favorite new characters is PIXIE, found in the pages of NEW X-MEN (now cancelled). She's a 14 year old girl who's a really cute, sweet, naive, innocent girl; She's your little sister character. The above pics should give you a good visual example of the character.

In a Newsarama interview, when discussing his character design sketches, artist Skottie Young says, "You'll notice on the characters I put their age (given to me by the writers; Craig Kyle & Chris Yost) so I can keep that in mind while approaching these characters."

The age on his Pixie sketch is 14:
On Skottie's blog, he posts (regarding the New X-Men's ages):
"I have a piece of paper on the cork board in front of my desk that reads: AGE IS MORE THAN JUST A NUMBER. This is my mantra while working on this book and these characters... My goal is to make these characters look their ages. I think that it's an important part of story telling........ After speaking with Chris [Yost] about the characters I was surprised to find out how young some of them were."

Well, unfortunately, Greg Land is now the co-penciller on UNCANNY X-MEN where Pixie will be joining the cast. Take a look at Land's rendition of Pixie:
Sigh. What happened, Land?
Your work ussed to rock and wasn't so reliant on photo reference.

When artist Skottie Young became the New X-Men artist with New X-Men #37, he said the writers gave him the ages of all the character. Pixie is listed at age 14.

Perhaps Marvel aged her 2/3 years after New X-Men ended, I don't know.

But while New X-Men was still in print, Pixie was 14.

Pixie in Uncanny is at least 17/18 due to the fact that she can legally drink in Canada.

Not that this excuses Land of any misdeed, just as a bit of info on the canon for Pixie as it is now.

The fact that all of Pixie's design changes from Quest for Magik got lost too is also a problem.
