This is so true. Although I refuse to listen to them after Seventh Son, the disappointment of getting No Prayer on the day it was released was too much!

UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris, I know your pain! 'No Prayer...' disappointment is akin to 'Phantom Menace'. I stopped listening to Maiden after that album. And having later visited 'Fear of the Dark' and the Blaze-Era albums, I'm glad I did.

However, in 2000, Bruce & Adrian returned to Maiden with 'Brave New World', which launched their "new" sound. Their new stuff is actually really good. Its not a return to the 80s glory, but its a new territory by an older, wiser band - 80s Maiden is Conan the Barbarian, 2000s+ Maiden is King Conan :)

I highly recommend giving their new stuff a chance.

Here's my recommended playlist of the new stuff:

from 'A Matter of Life & Death' (2006- amazing album!):
* These Colours Don't Run
* Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
* The Longest Day
* For the Greater Good
* Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg

from 'Book of Souls' (2015 - this just came out so I'm still digesting):
* If Eternity Should Fail
* The Great Unknown
* The Red and The Black
* The Book of Souls

from 'Brave New World' (2000):
* Ghost of the Navigator
* Brave New World
* The Mercenary

from 'Dance of Death' (2003):
* No More Lies
