GODMACHINE ALIEN POSTER

Check out this poster by GODMACHINE. Man, I would totally do everything I could to get one IF he hadn't used the alien from 'AVP-R'. I just can't get past it... I look at it and I recognize it from that horrible, dreadful movie. If only he'd referenced the GIGER ALIEN from you know, 'ALIEN'. Oh well. Pretty sweet poster, nonetheless... its just not for me...maybe.... cause its still badass. Gah, inner turmoil!

you should seriously get over this. different people, could be different alien species, etc. i mean, all good either way, just sayin'!

It's not different people - its a depiction of Sigourney Weaver's Ripley from 'Alien'... its a poster for 'ALIEN' and 'ALIENS' but using imagery from another movie.

Why should I "get over" my opinion of pop culture? That's what this blog is about, hence the name.

AVP-R IS one one of the WORST movies i've seen EVER!!! Having said that, the designs are ok. Personally I love the warrior design from Aliens more then Alien but that MHO.

Yes,... And given JIM'S previous interpretation of the Alien ( one which I and many others subscribe to), the idea and CONCEPT, of the Alien taking on characteristics and " persona's " of it's host is found undesirable and lacking ( because you have to follow it's logical conclusion where you have octa-aliens, horse Aliens, croc-Aliens,...ect....which becomes rediculous as a concept...) So, no different Aliens do not look like different people.... ALIEN 3 derailed the concept of the Alien being an unique being unto its self, and the AVP movies just turned that concept Into cheese ball, campy, over the top fan boy fiction...
-simply put, it's the wrong Alien.

Hi guys, damn right you should get your nerd on- I did when I did the poster. I chose to use the alien from Aliens because I wanted to get my teeth into all that detail. Its a double bill also so wanted to use the 'alien' name and use the 'aliens' monster ..and in part I wanted to push the nerd boat and rattle the cage to be honest. Im glad it did. You all didnt see I used the type face up top that is exactly the type face used for the ships computer 'mother'? I haven't seen AVP, never will, its just a gimmick to sell a franchise. The fist one is the best, second one is ok, the 3rd is...lets not go there errrchh...and the 4th has potential but they bastardised Whedons script so it kinda just hung there. Im proud of the nerds being nerdy about it. I am too!!

Sweet, thanks for chiming in!

But I "must" correct you - that's the alien head from 'AVP-R', not 'Aliens'. :P

My issue with the use is more my own issues with the 'AVP-R' movie, not your cool print. I dig the ridge(s) styling they used for the creature in that dreadful movie, and it works well in this print, playing off he texture in Ripley's suit.

I actually did try to buy this print... but got pulled into a meeting when it went online. When I returned 30 minutes later, they were all sold out. Gah!!!! :( (any chance of 2nd prints?)

You are smart to have avoided the AVP movies - they are unforgiveable.
