I really like this piece!

But wish the alien in the background was of Giger's "Big Chap" from the first 'Alien' movie, instead of the AVP creature, since this depicts Ripley and Jones from 'Alien' as well.

but it bugs me that it's Ripley from 'ALIEN' 

holding a Pulse Rifle that debuted in 'ALIENS'.

WRONG ALIEN: T-SHIRT - MOVIE & GEOGRAPHY WOES

This t-shirt has an 'AVP' alien with the 'Aliens' planet name underneath. 

Which makes no sense when you really think about it because in 'AVP', the aliens were only on EARTH.

Know your movies.

Know your aliens.

WRONG ALIEN : MONDO

I love this Mondo poster by Pascal Blanché for tomorrow's "Alien Day" Celebration.... but am frustrated that the eggs do not look like they did in 'Alien'.

Instead, they appear to have a shape more akin to the eggs in 'Alien: Covenant'.

Here is Giger's original eggs from 'Alien'.

Comparisons: Alien/Mondo/Covenant

Notice the silhouette differences.

Mondo and Covenant's eggs are more teardrop in shape.

The only reason why I take issue is because this is specifically tributing Ridley Scott's 'Alien' movie. Similarly, if you're doing a poster for 'Return of the Jedi', don't have Snowtroopers fighting Gungans.

* It seems every time Mondo releases an Alien poster, there is some element being used from the wrong movie. 

WRONG ALIEN: CREEPY COMPANY

This is an image from 'Alien 3' used for a post celebrating the anniversary of 'Aliens'.

I appreciate the intent, but I would have appreciated it more had they used the correct movie.

WRONG ALIEN: LATEST 'ALIEN' BLU RAY

JimSmash Reader JEYL sent me this pic of the latest 'ALIEN' blu ray cover art. 

He says, "It doesn’t even set up an appropriate tone for her character. Here she is looking tough and geared like she's ready to go xeno hunting. That is just not her character. I’d dare say that wasn’t even her character in ALIENS, and she did gear up to confront some Xenos!" 

Yes yes and yes!

A few things immediately jumped out at me....

First off, they've photoshopped some "Narcissus armor" onto the 'Alien' promo photo of Sigourney Weaver circa 1979:

Sure, it caused a slight eye roll, but whatever.

What drove me nuts was they, once again, used the Wrong Alien to promote their own movie, using the alien from the god awful 'AVP-R'.

And to make matters worse, its an image of NECA'S TOY FIGURE!

WRONG ALIEN: WARRIOR USED IN OTHERWISE-REALLY-NICE 'ALIEN' PRINT

You know how I'm a stickler about using the proper Alien Design in artwork, so there's a couple things here that hinder the piece from being knocked out of the park, in my opinion:

1) The Alien used in the print is not from 'ALIEN', but is instead the Alien Warrior seen in James Cameron's 'ALIENS'. 

Furthermore, the alien image itself is lifted from the 'Aliens: Colonial Marines' video game artwork.

2) The Egg, while looking pretty sweet, incorporates the egg lip "skin folds" seen in later Alien movies such as 'Alien: Resurrection' and 'AVP'. 

If I had to guess, I think the added texture seen on the egg body is from that promo seen above (lower-right). Shrug.
