DOG ALIEN STATUE

I'm not a fan of the DOG ALIEN from Alien3, but I felt inclined to post this anyway. Check out the exclusive version which comes with the Queen Facehugger, which was thankfully cut from the Theatrical Version.

$235 HERE for you dog lovers

I didn't say anything.

But since you brought it up... I have no problem with the alien popping out of other species. I just have a problem with it looking stupid once it does.

yes,.. the Alien should have ALWAYS remained the same bio mechanical creature. Having it "look" like it's host opens up a Pandora's box of stupid ideas.. It simply uses the dna present in the host as building blocks.. younger aliens might have a semblance of the host ( ie,..the first film that had the skull seen thru a transparent dome,)..but as the Alien matures, it sheds all likeness of the host to become the perfect specimen that it is... Alien 3 was the downfall of the "ALIEN" it's self...and the Pred-Alien is F'n Retarded...( seriously,..it's stupid..) bc now we can have shark aliens, tiger Aliens, hell,.A planet of all kinds of "crazy and wild" Aliens...see where the logical conclusion has to take you once you open up this Pandora's box?,..that's right,..right into absurdity.... ( I really wish more writers and would try and follow their stupid ideas to their logical conclusion instead of being idiot fan boys..."THAT'S FUKIN AWESOME!! -(jerk...jerk...jerk...)"

It's funny considering that the Queen Facehugger was designed for the movie but was only shown dead and from a distance. What makes this even funnier is that the reason they made a Queen Facehugger to begin with was to explain how it could impregnate two hosts (Ripley and the dog/cow). But since everything was scrapped, rewritten and reshot, they just used a regular looking facehugger for the film's plot hole filled opening that caused even more things to make less sense.

I'm sorry, but I've just got to dish this out. You remember the opening to ALIENS with the shuttle? They had to rebuild the entire set from scratch, grab as many of the original props that they could use (the white space helmet) and make it look like it was the bona fide shuttle that Ripley was in from the first movie. The attention to detail was fantastic. When you look at Alien3, NOTHING LOOKS THE SAME! The coloring is beige instead of metalic blue, the cryo tubes are flat instead of at an angle, the Suloco now has a female computer voice (where were you when the marines woke up?), and the egg literally is shown on the ceiling inside the Suloco (Not the drop ship as the bluray menu will lead you to believe). Nowhere in Aliens did the Queen stop pursuing Newt and just stand on her biggest pair of arms, lay an egg at some random corner of some hidden room on the Sulaco and than continue to pursue Newt again. Alien3 literally breaks the franchise.

....this film is a gawd awful mess.

I preordered this the moment it came out. I have always loved this version of the creature because it really was so different from the other ones. Take away our thoughts on the whole 'hybrid' thing. I loved the sleek look and speed of this beast. Not having the pipes on the back also makes it more streamlined. There aren't many affordable versions of this version so this was a no-brainer for me!!

I can't believe I typed 'versions of this version'....I'm tired OK!!!

Nice, Tim!

I miss the back pipes, myself. And was never a fan of the Michele Pfeifer lips (which was the reference used to make them). But there's a beauty to the intricate designs that I like. I also liked the creepy red of the clear dome that would catch in the light at times. While I'm not a huge fan of this version, I did pick up the bust a few years back from Sideshow....

Sweet! I also have that bust and it's from Palisades. I miss them! I also have the Hot Toys figure which has held up. I do get people's points about not liking the design but I didn't think it was a crazy departure from the original. It still had that Geiger feel to it. Much moreso than the Alien 4 and AvP versions.

I've always dug the detail design in its shoulders, hips and joint areas.

so if you have a problem w/ so-called "fanboys" wanting to see something else other than only watching the 1st two Alien films over and over, then what does that make someone who only wants to see the 1st two over and over and over and gripes about anything else? hmmmmm...

i'm sure people have also wasted enough time whining about The Thing and how it "shouldn't have ever been in a dog". "that part was lame", and etc. yeah, Hollywood isn't all hit, but it isn't all miss either. the Predalien, despite whatever problems w/ the film adaptation, was a genius "next logical step" to the comic version of these two great creature stories.

I have no problem with people liking anything that they like. I've never attacked another on here for their personal tastes.

You like the Predalien?
That's just fine. Enjoy!

Regarding some statements made:

I do not "have a problem w/ so-called 'fanboys' wanting to see something else other than only watching the 1st two Alien films over and over."

Nor am I "someone who only wants to see the 1st two over and over and over and gripes about anything else"

the comments were made in general response to the "anything Aliens other than the first 2 films is total crap" attitude, but primarily in response to this statement:

"I really wish more writers and would try and follow their stupid ideas to their logical conclusion instead of being idiot fan boys".

as i said, not everything in Hollywood is hit, nor is it all miss. not being perfectly consistent is one thing, despite different directors having different visions, but everyone doing a different film will always do it differently. it is just as it is and instead of just being miserable by picking, i'd prefer to just be entertained.

as much as i can say, "Spiderman 3 & Xmen 3 largely, mostly, sucked for various reasons", they're a lot more entertaining to watch than a lot out there, even including the same genre, such as Catwoman.

personally speaking, i'd rather see Aliens 3, arguably the worst of them by far, than Drag Me To Hell or Jennifer's Body. those movies were beyond terrible.

"...not sticking to perfect CONTINUITY..." is what i meant to say. i knew the word wouldn't come to me until after i pressed "publish comment". lol

the continuity not being perfectly linear can grate on the nerves, but it's just a different movie w/ a different vision, so i just keep that in perspective and it helps not getting pissed off about a project that's not even mine.

Jim said...

Ah, gotcha :)

Yeah, over the years I've started to view the ALIEN movies as self-contained films, but with "continuity tethers". Each film is a director's vision/version - like how each comic artist's rendition is unique and often very stylistic - yet all paying homage to Giger's original design.

I love the first 2, and those are what's "Correct" in MY mind.

But as a diehard Alien fan, I find fun things in the other outings... whether its lighting, set design, costume design, etc. Or, just fun cool moments.

In the end, its all fun entertainment. But as fans, we feel an emotional attachment to these things... sometiems even a feeling of "Personal Ownership", which can lead to outlandish behaviour... like creating a blog called "JIMSMASH!" :)

I still fucking hate the Predalien, tho hehehe - not the concept, but the execution of it in AVP-R. But again, that's just MY personal opinion of it.

LIke I said, I LOVE ALIEN & ALIENS, as do many of my friends... and we infight about which Alien is better - smooth or rigged domes.

Debating the silly nuances of Pop Culture is part of the fun, I find. (its just when it gets too heated and persona attacks begin does it get ugly).

@ Anonymous:

- See my problem is what you are expressing ( not directed at you, so don't take this as a personal attack )
Not everything in Hollywood is a hit or a miss, but when it comes to a genre/mythos/characters that have been established , ( ie, ALIEN(s), Star Wars, Star Trek,Comic Movies.ect...) I really resent the sentiment that we as fans, the ones that have made it possible for there to be interest for Hollywood to create a film that makes them money, to "just be grateful" that Hollywood has turned its attention to us lowly dreggs and grace us with their acknowledgement of what we love, by producing a film that was written by someone who doesn't know the source material, directed by someone with no vision, and visually conceived by someone who treats the subject material with card de blanche' or the imagination of a 6th grader ( ie,.".man.. a T-Rex with Bat wings and a sword and machine gun would look awesome! lets put it in a movie..)...it's an over exaggeration,..but you get my point..)). We, as fans,..as the ones that help create the interest..., should demand more, and not " just be happy they made a movie" You can further a story and it's characters without fundamentally changing them ( I'm looking at you MARVEL ). you just have to understand who and what your material is. i would honestly rather some one do it right, than not at all.
