ALIEN 5: WITH NO ALIENS..... ER, WHUH?

From MTV:
[Sigourney]Weaver confirmed that she and Scott have discussed re-teaming for a fifth [Alien] film, “Both of us feel a kind of commitment to that woman. He’s as much responsible for who she is as I am.” Then as she opined on the way the alien creature had been ruined in the recent films, Weaver’s comments got especially interesting.

“We’d have to go back to the drawing board on [the alien],” she said. “Ridley said that right away when we first talked about [a fifth film]....What we’re interested in is taking the character of Ripley and seeing what other science fiction story we can tell about someone who has lived several lives.” (link)

As a huge Alien fan, I have no interest in this.
At all.

Just let the franchise die, please.
And does anyone give a shit about the further adventures of Ripley-8? I sure as hell don't, and I'm a psychotic Alien fan.

I'm a huge Alien fun 2, and yes I'd very much like to see Alien5 (Alien related :)
It's hard to imagine another Alien movie whitout Sigourney, but it will be a shame if Aliens get their buts kicked once more, like thay did in previous and in the AvP (why do humans allways win? btw. Predalien and Newborn suck). My best scenario for that movie would be Ripley joins the Aliens in overrunning Earth.

yea!!!! another movie featuring the ass kicking, gun toting chick!!!!!,..jeeeezusss hollywood, can we come up with something else????

-zero interest....

Yeah hollywood, I am with Anonymous... enough with the overused concepts. Let's have more ass kicking gun toting DUDES! Because those aren't used enough.

Jackass.

Well, Ripley was technically the first female action star, so having her in her own movie should not be included in attacking Hollywood for another "ass-kicking, gun toting chick" movie. But yes, Hollywood is in need of new concepts.

I politely disagree that Ripley was the first female action star. Pam Grier's 'Foxy Brown' comes to mind just off the top of my head.

Either way, I'd say your point is still valid, but I'd argue that 'ass-kicking, gun toting chicks' sell enough tickets to keep the self-perpetuating Hollywood maching running. No matter how much this movie might suck, it'll make money.

hey, 'HEY Anonymous',....my point is over here,..come check it out......( at NO point did I say i wanted more of the 80's cliche'arnold/stalone 'dudes") it's alonfg the lines of,..I't tiresome,..and to the point of rediculous/cliche, along with The nobler black guy who sacrifices himself, the non-threatening comedis white guy, and Sam Jackson in every friggin movie...try to read a little less into what people are saying

-'jackass'

My point was this: you are complaining that women with guns is tiresome.

Why?

Are men with guns tiresome?
No. Yet decade after decade the action film genre is spearheaded with men.

Why the double standard?

Must action movies be a boys only club?

The genre is 99.9% dudes with guns, yet no one complains. Why does it bug you so when women are in the starring role?

And this is Sigourney Weaver as Ripley. She wrote the book on chick with gun kicking ass. I think she's allowed to continue her career in that character.
Or was her role in Aliens tiresome, too?

I think you guys are missing the true point here - "The Chronicles of Ripley8" is a terrible terrible idea.

Unless she runs around with her trusty 2 pets; the Newborn and the Predalien!
(that was for you, Jim) :P

I shudder to think of "The Chronicles of Call", so perhaps this is the lesser of 2 evils.

yes,...yes they are ( all of them )tiresome,...that's the point. Hollywood has no original ideas,..just recycled garbage from previous other movies,...seriously,..what don't you get about the whole point of the post. It's not a female bashing thing. it's an over used cliche' seriously dude,...
i think you might need to work out some issues (dudet)
