Haha! Nice.
And no, I did not write the note.... you can't prove it.

Sorry, I know I shouldn't go on about it, but that film was an utter disgrace!!!!!!! Boo to you, Ridley.

Chris, if there's one place in this world where you can safely go on about Prometheus being crappy, it's here at JimSmash! Rant away, you are amongst friends! :)

Still not seen it, and I'm f**king glad !!!

the movie itself is fun, pretty, dumb and enjoyable as a generic sci-fi romp. but if you're a fan of 'ALIEN', stay the hell away as it retcons everything you loved about the classic into narrow-minded, unimaginative, generic episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

'ALIEN' fans be warned!

If they had not linked it to Alien and retconned the Alien, the Alien Life-Cycle and the Space Jockey... then sure, fun and flawed sci-fi movie.

Make 'Phantom Menace' not attached to Star Wars and you could say the same thing, I suppose.

Jim, for that I salute you!

Wow, "manic" much, Jim?

As stand-alone films, w/out some weirdo fixation attached to it, Prometheus blows the previous Star Trek out the water, yet people think that recent Star Trek is "awesome"?!?

This new one will suck, too. It's Star Trek after all. You want to see the exciting parts? STAY TUNED to the commercials, they'll all be in there!

...which, adding up all the best of Star Trek gong back decades, doesn't compare to Phantom Menace, which I can agree is the "worst" Star Wars film.

The "worst" of awesome still easily trumps the "best" of suck, though!

But, hey, rant away!

Well since its my blog I figured I could post whatever the fuck I wanted.

And not everyone loves the JJ Star Trek. I thought it was a piece of shit.

All in all, though, to put your own personal opinion in a friggin' Redbox rental, no matter the movie and no matter the opinion, is pretty lame.

There's countless films that deserve that way more so, just in the previous year (The Watch, A Thousand Words, The Muppets, John Carter, The Three Stooges, The Apparition, This Means War, What To Expect When You're Expecting, Gone... shall I go on? Please don't make me!!!), yet I'm sure someone didn't care to write a note about it, despite the immense self-love people seem to have nowadays.

Honestly not even sure if some of the ones I mentioned were in 2012 or 2011, but they were just so shockingly terrible in every way that it tattooed the brain.

Prometheus? Still better than Total Recall, regardless of the problems.

True! ...doesn't mean people have to be "Yes men" and agree though, right?

...shocked that someone admitted that the J.J. Abrams Star Trek sucked, fangirls for Star Trek have hailed that film as some sort of 2nd Coming.

That guy is severely miss (Felicity, Lost, Star Trek, etc) or hit (Super 8, Alias, etc).

Leaving the note was rude. I don't know who did it, but I thought the pic was funny so I shared.

And my beef with Prometheus is its direct tie to ALIEN and the negative, retconning impact it makes. As I've said numerous time before here, as a stand-alone film it was a fun, albeit flawed & dumb sci-fi romp. But its not a stand-alone film - its set in the Alien universe and retcons the Space Jockey, the Alien and the entire meaning of the movie 'Alien'. Just as 'Phantom Menace' retconned the Original Star Wars Trilogy and even The Force itself. And for that, 'Prometheus' (just like the SW Preqeuels) will always be considered an abomination by me.
