JIMPRAISE: 10 GOOD THING ABOUT THE PREDALIEN

"JimPRAISE!"
Due to excessive amounts of hate mail wrongfully accusing that I am always negative, I proposed to you Readers a week of "JimPRAISE". I asked for suggestions of topics for me to post only POSITIVE things about, and you answered (you Jackals!). I have chosen the top 5 requested topics and will post 1 per day this week. Just remember, you asked for these.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried.
I truly, honestly tried
.

But the only thing I could come up with is that you can see a [Predator] skull through the forehead dome, akin to Giger's original Alien Design. That's it. I began reaching for other things like, "It's fingers are ok". But that's weak and reaching, even for me.

I considered just posting a big blank post.

I also considered just being extremely sarcastic and actually dumping all over it....But I didn't want to post that, because this is jimPRAISE after all.

In the end, it comes down to this:
I just don't like the Predalien.

JIMPRAISE WEEK: TOP 17 EWOKS

"JimPRAISE!"
Due to excessive amounts of hate mail wrongfully accusing that I am always negative, I proposed to you Readers a week of "JimPRAISE". I asked for suggestions of topics for me to post only POSITIVE things about, and you answered (you Jackals!). I have chosen the top 5 requested topics and will post 1 per day this week. Just remember, you asked for these.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In conjunction with "JimPRAISE Week",
I give you the
TOP 17 EWOKS!

(because you love them so!)

*Note: This post was originally to be a quick gag of absurdity. But after an excessive amount of time researching for said post, I now know waaaaaay too much about Ewoks. I blame you, my readers, and therefore I hate you all. Enjoy!

(below info gathered from the Star Wars Wiki)
17) WIDDLE WARRICK
Aka "Willy". Willy was Wicket's goofy, chubby, and clumsy brother. He was the black sheep of the Warrick family. And yes, his name is "Widdle".
---

16) WEECHEE WARRICK
Wicket's older (and stronger) brother! Him and Paploo - yeah, they're the strongest Ewoks of the village. He'll always try to get you to wrestle, then take whatever food you may have. God, he's such a dick!
---

15) DEEJ WARRICK
Wicket's daddy!
---

14) KAINK
Kaink is the Ewok PRIESTESS, which means she's the guardian of the Soul Trees as well as keep of Ewok Legends. That's right, she carries a magical staff with a crystal on top, so don't you be messin' with her!
---

13) WAROK
Warok is the best Ewok Glider pilot. Yet he doesn't get the credit - people tend to think he is the ewok in the Glider in Return of the Jedi, but he's not. He's got the Right Stuff - all the glory, none of the fame. He's like the Chuck Yeager of Ewoks. He's also believed to be Paploo's father.
"Warriors to your wings! Warok will lead us.
Mates and elders, watch over the children. We fly!"
―Chief Chirpa
---

12) LUMAT
Chief woodcutter!
Weapons supplier & dealer.
---

11) ROMBA
Romba is the main dude who built the booby traps that foiled the Galactic Empire during the Battle of Endor. Also, he's the ewok who barely escaped an explosion, but lost his buddy. He's like the Ewok Macgyver.
---

10) CHIEF CHIRPA
Hel-loo, he's the Chief! Which means he's the head of his tribe's Council of Elders. You can tell by the reptilian staff decorated with teeth & horns that he carries, which denotes his rank.
---

9) TEEBO
Teebo is the pupil to the Village Shaman, Logray. He wears the skull of a Gurrek on his noggin. He always kinda freaked me out... but also looked like a stone-cold bad ass.
---

8) BABY EWOKS!
Admit it - they're cute.
---

7) THE INGLORIOUS BASTARDS DEATH SQUAD
Don't let the cute furry exterior fool you - Ewoks are terrifying.
They're like Chimps...
one minute they're wearing a cute tuxedo making you laugh...
the next, they're ripping off your arms
and skull fucking you into Oblivion.
---

6) FALLEN SOLDIER
*sniffle* sumfin in muh eye is all....
---

5) LEIA'S LOVERS
What happens in the Ewok Village, stays in the Ewok Village.
---

4) EWOK GLIDER EWOK!
(Not Warok)
---

3) LOGRAY
He's the tribes shaman, man. Everyone likes to laugh at Logray because he's just a "crazy old wizard" believing in a "hokey ancient Ewok magic". Well you know WHY he's the shaman of the village? Because he's able to tap into THE FORCE, that's why. Not laughing now, are you? Jerk. Respect!
---

2) PAPLOO
Who feels the need.
The need... for speed.

Hey, he rode a Speeder Bike.
Regardless of silliness, on principle, he gets props.

(and he's played by Kenny "R2-D2" Baker!)
---

1) WICKET
He's the kid ewok that, like Luke, steps into a much larger world.
Plus its Warrick Davis, so by default he's on the list.

I also put him at #1 so I didn't get a ton of hate mail
saying,"What? Wicket's not #1? Screw you, you loser!"
...and so on.

JIMPRAISE: 10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE STAR WARS PREQUELS

"JimPRAISE!"
Due to excessive amounts of hate mail wrongfully accusing that I am always negative, I proposed to you Readers a week of "JimPRAISE". I asked for suggestions of topics for me to post only POSITIVE things about, and you answered (you Jackals!). I have chosen the top 5 requested topics and will post 1 per day this week. Just remember, you asked for these.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT
"THE STAR WARS PREQUELS"

(in no particular order)

REPUBLIC CRUISER
The first thing you see in Phantom Menace. I liked the design, paint work and especially the sound design of its engines as it flies by. This ship is special in that its the only thing that lives within that tiny area of The Phantom Menace being the awesome movie you hoped for (just before the Neomodians show up).
---

AURRA SING
She was on screen for maybe 3 seconds, for a single shot... but she made an impression. Before the comics, books, games etc shed lame-o unofficial light on her, she was a character of mystery and one of the good aspects within "The Phantom Menace"
---

SITH INFILTRATOR
Darth Maul's sweet ship. You can really see the TIE-Fighter influence and I dug that. It's like a Star Destroyer and a TIE-Fighter had a baby.
---

PLO KOON
You never saw him do much... or anything, really. But I really dug his design. Kudos to whomever designed him.
---

MANDALORIAN
Regardless of who's under the helmet or what his name & role is... we fans got to see "another Mandalorian" in action!
---

"SLAVE SHIP"
In addition to seeing another Mandalorian, we also saw a "Slave Class" ship manuever around and unleash some weaponry.
---

SICK YODA KILL
I'm not a fan of they spazoid hopping Yoda, but I will admit this moment was rad.
---

COMMANDER BACARA
You've seen me post about this guy before... he's my favorite Clone Trooper... ok, the only Clone Trooper I like, really... but still, I think he looks awesome. And he leads the platoon that kills Jedi Master (& Council Member) Ki Adi Mundi.
---

DARTH MAUL
He was sold a "the new face of Evil" even before the movie came out. The few scenes he was in were cool and his final battle was sweet. He's really the only redeeming element from Episode I. It's a shame Lucas killed him off when he did... I would have loved to have seen a "Dark Anakin" fight him for sole apprenticeship under Palpatine, resulting in "Anakin" being renamed "Darth Vader". Anyway, Darth Maul is still cool, despite how crappy the Prequels are.

JIMPRAISE: 10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE WOLVERINE MOVIE

"JimPRAISE!"
Due to excessive amounts of hate mail wrongfully accusing that I am always negative, I proposed to you Readers a week of "JimPRAISE". I asked for suggestions of topics for me to post only POSITIVE things about, and you answered (you Jackals!). I have chosen the top 5 requested topics and will post 1 per day this week. Just remember, you asked for these.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT
"X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE"

(in no particular order)

MOTORCYCLE SCENE: LOGAN IS NOW HEAVY!
Sometimes it's the little things that make fanboys glee in their seats. In one scene, post-adamantium operation, Logan sits on a motorcycle and gives the shocks a run for the money. Even comic book writers sometimes seem to forget that the adamantium lacing Wolverine's bones makes him heavy.
---

I LIKED THE BLOB ACTOR
Boxing Matach aside, I thought Kevin Durand did a nice job as a likeable Fred Dukes, aka The Blob.
---

SABRETOOTH'S EXTENDABLE CLAWS
In this movie, Sabretooth's claws are extendable. Personally, I thought that was great and works for the character. It's minor, yet profound.
---

WAR FLASHBACK MONTAGE
This was nicely done... an almost "Highlander" flashback montage showing that a)Logan & Creed are really old, b)They ave fought in many wars, c)Establish both have healing factors, d)Shows they have grown somewhat indifferent to the idea of pain & death over the years, and e)They are drawn to conflict.
---

DEATH OF MA & PA KENT
It was so awesome to see Ma and Pa Kent again! And truly shocking when they both get killed. Seriously, I did not foresee it coming at the moment it did.
---

RYAN REYNOLDS IS A GREAT WADE WILSON
Ryan Reynolds was born to play 2 comic book characters: Wally West Flash, and DEADPOOL. In this Origins movie, Reynolds does a great job playing the part of pre-Deadpool WADE WILSON and gives us a taste of how perfect he would be as the funny "The Merc With A Mouth". Oh, and when Wade enters the badguy room and kills everyone with his swords and slices that bullet in half in mid flight/air...... Sweet.
---

SABRETOOTH: BIGGER & STRONGER & SCARY
They did get a few aspects of Sabretooth right in this movie: He's bigger, stronger & more ferocius than Wolverine. The only real way that allows the 2 to fight on a somewhat "even playing field" is that Logan has the indescructible skeleton and adamantium claws. Schrieber's Creed was scary, as it should be.
Oh, and Creed breaking Logan's bone claws was a nice touch... a little nod/borrow from Wolverine #79 where Cyber did the same thing.
---

ESCAPE FROM WEAPON X FACILITY
This was one of the best scenes in the movie.... starting at the moment where Wolverine comes up out of the tank in an almost-berserker rage. Logan takes a bullet to the forehead like it was nothing, then leaps out and kills everyone in his path.
---

THEM CLAWS BE SHARP!
The final cool moment of the Facility Escape scene is when he slices through the facility's metal walls like they were butter - a nice reminder that his adamantium claws are fucking sharp!

JIMPRAISE: 10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT "BATMAN & ROBIN"

NOTE: Apologies for taking so long with this... but I do find it funny that jimPRAISE was delayed.. Anyway, now that the anticipation has been built up so much, I give you.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10 GOOD THINGS ABOUT
"BATMAN & ROBIN"

(in no particular order)

NIGHTWING EMBLEM OVER GOTHAM SKY
As a huge Nightwing fan, this was sweet.
---

BLACK-LIGHT MOTORCYCLE GANGS OF GOTHAM'S UNDERGROUND
Gotham is a weird, scary town and it's not strictly confined to the "Super Villains". I liked the idea of an Underground Motorcycle Racing World deep within the dark bowels of Gotham City. Add the freaky black-light gangs, and it brought some of the fun comic aspects into the film instead of just Batman running around inside a Tim Burton painting.
---

BRUCE'S NON-CLICHE LOVE INTEREST
Vicki Vale, Selina Kyle, Chase Meridian.. enough with the love interests for Bruce! He rarely has them in the comics, so why must he fall in love with "The One" each theatrical outing? .... oops, forgot - jimPRAISE... so yeah, it was refreshing to see that his love interest was not "The One" and neither one of them wanted marriage or anything beyond the companionship they had. Refreshing!
---
ROBIN [tries to] FIGHT BATMAN
It's always fun when Batman & Robin/Nightwing fight each other. You always wonder if Dick has surpassed the old man yet. He never does, but you know that's his destiny. Anyway, for a split second... CONCEPTUALLY... the two fight each other!
---

GET TO SEE THE NIGHTWING COSTUME
(sort of)

When Nightwing got his own solo comic series with NIGHTWING #1, I became an instant fan. The character was interesting and I loved his costume. In this film, we kind of see that costume, to a degree. Neat.
---

BRUCE/ALFRED HEART-TO-HEART
BRUCE:
I've spent my whole life trying to
beat back death.
What good are all
my heroics now if I can't save you?

ALFRED:
Everyone dies, Master Bruce. There's
no defeat in that.
Victory comes in
fighting for what we know is right while we still live.

BRUCE:
I love you, old man.

ALFRED:
Remember this.
And remember it
always. I'm proud of you.
And
I love you too, son.
---

THAT ONE SHOT: ROBIN DITCHED
The two crusaders racing and arguing. Dick being hot heated, defiant and irrational. Batman shuts down his bike, leaving him stranded as he watches the Batmobile haul ass past him launching off the giant finger of the ridiculously giant Gotham Statue. Robin yelling in anger as the wind whisps his cape. Pure geeky drama, baby. And that was a cool shot.
---

MR. FREEZE LOOKED KINDA COOL
(get it?)
It's almost too bad the Animated series came out before this movie because the reinvisioned animated version of Mr Freeze was incredible! But this version is actually more true to the comic book version; Big & Armored (if only his helmet was the dome!). Remove the dialogue, and Schwarzenegger was a visually fun Mr. Freeze.Plus, Arnold-Freeze looked great in the striped "prisoner garb" of Arkham. Perhaps, he was a more successful Mr. Freeze OUT of the costume/armor.
---

BRUCE'S BROTHER-TO-BROTHER SPEECH
BRUCE:
"You once said to me that being part of a team means trusting your partner.
That sometimes counting on someone else is the only way to win.
DO you remember?
You weren't just talking about being partners.
You were talking about being a family.

Well, part of our family is dying.
I'm not going to
lose everyone I've ever loved.
So I'masking you now,
friend, partner,
brother -
will you trust me?"
