NEW COBRA COMMANDER - CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR - UPDATED!

Above is a promo image for GIJOE 2: Retaliation. They finally realized how fucking stupid Cobra Commander looked in the previous movie. This is a welcomed improvement, but they still managed to get it wrong.

Cobra Commander should be in BLUES... the Black & Red makes him look like a servant to DESTRO. And where are the Cobra Chest Emblems? How hard is it to just make the fucking toy/comic line into a movie? All the costume R&D was done 30 years ago for crying outloud.

Here, I made some adjustments which puts it a little closer to how I'd want them to look...manipulating what I have to work with, that is:

"COBRAAAAA!!!!!"

UPDATED!
My buddy Melchy added face shields to the troops!

YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Your version is pretty much on point. I don't understand it either. Why must Hollywood corrupt this stuff? Don't they realize the only people that give a fark about G.I.Joe are the people that played with the toys and read the comics as kids? The new movie looks just like a first: A square kick in the nuts to any real G.I.Joe fan.

Your version rocks man... Never understand why they screw the easiest things up.

I wasn't so "upset" when the first one came out, despite being seriously underwhelmed the first time I saw it. The 2nd time, I went, "Oh, ok... I see what they tried to do... make it like an episode", and hated it less.

The Cobra Commander mask? Well, didn't like it, but thought it was just "something different to do w/ the first one 'cause of... whatever", and took it w/ a grain of salt.

Seeing them "Hollywood-ize" this, instead of making SIMPLE, SMART, CORRECT parallels to what we all know, love, & grew up w/ seems really stupid to me.

This new one looks better than the previous, so the previews will have you believe, but not doing something as simplistic as you mentioned/did...

*smh*

...doesn't exactly give the best of confidence.

idk... Maybe they're looking to "truly Cobra it up" on the 3rd. ...despite the fact that the BLUE w/ RED insignia would've looked way cooler hanging off of the White House.

*smh*

*crossing fingers that the suck stops there* lol

Oh yeah your version is spot on and how he should look but there was a later released CC in Red and Black colors in the Joe line of figures plus there is always the one that most folks dislike but is my favorite the DIC or armored version of him.

Yeah, jboypacman, different versions of CC and all of them rock. I, for one, didn't hate his mask/look in the first film 'cause, well... Like I said, I thought it was for "purposes of the film, blah, blah, blah". I appreciated its' difference to all the known versions, from blue to black to red to armored. I like the armored as well, but I'm just a geek for the Joe.

Used to take them all apart and mix-n'-match them to create my own characters for play. WHO DIDN'T, right?!? lol Good, good times. :-)

But now, for this one, I'm looking for a little more closer to the stuff I grew up with and less "Hollywood", personally speaking. Trying to not hate & just appreciate. ...we'll see how it goes SOON! Well, you know... if they don't delay the release for the 20th time. lol

As I said, though, what you did, JIM, is awesomeness. :-)

...also... The 11-yr-old supergeek for the Joe in me wanted me to mention...

Shouldn't Storm Shadow's Cobra insignia be on his LEFT shoulder? :-)

Dude, I almost painted Storm Shadow's costume so that the emblem could be on the other, correct side!! But I didn't have enough time (was at work)

Ooohhh, whatever, blame work for interrupting your hobby, why don'tcha!?!?!?!

j/k ;-)

So, yeah, just got home from the theater... Iiiiiiiiiiinteresting little movie. Better than the first, just as "good" as the first in some ways, many problems similar to the first.

I mean, hey... If you're gonna do what you do w/ Firefly, among others, then you need to have A TON OF THEM. (trying to avoid playing spoiler! :-) )

For the next one, and I hope there is a next one, they need to bring 'em all out. G.I. Joe wasn't about ONLY a few Joes & Cobra here & there, it had a lot of them in pretty much every story, even if the storyline only centered on a couple/few.

All in all, though, very entertaining. I liked how that aspect carried over to film from the cartoon, same as the first one. Popped on the 1st just last night, same attitude as before: problems abound, but felt like an extended, more adult, cooler, updated, live-action CARTOON EPISODE. :-)

Gripes and imperfections, sure, but I just have hopes it'll get better and better.

*FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!*
