BLURAY ALIENS ANTHOLOGY PACKAGING

As the World collectively holds its excited breath for the ALIENS ANTHOLOGY BLURAY DVD RELEASE, Fox has shown us some hints at the nifty packaging, which is pretty cool.

A few thoughts:

1) "Anthology"? I guess they took too much flack for "Quadrilogy".... from what I've read, this new set includes the same 4 movies as the Quadrilogy set.

2) That QUEEN image... I think its a pic of SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES' statue.
3) Love the EGG packaging with the ALIEN wrapped around it. But what the F?! They use the Egg, Alien & font from frickin' ALIEN: RESURRECTION? It's the worst Alien movie of the series (excluding the dreadful 2 AVP turds, which I do not acknowledge). Hey, I give you A+ for Effort... but a big ole RED "F" for execution. So much so, I won't be shelling out the money for this deluxe set. Why would I? So I can have a piece of poop Alien Resurrection "statue" buried in the back of my closet? No thanks. I'll just pick up ALIEN and ALIENS individually.

I'm worried how bad ALIENS will look on Blu-Ray, Cameron mentions on the DVD commentary that it was shot on a very grainy stock, this might look pretty ropey in HD !!!

yeah, same....
a couple years back I caught ALIENS on cable in HD on an HD TV... it looked like garbage. The blacks were crushed into oblivion, for one. Ripley's hair looked like she was wearing a light-absorbing black helmet ala Spaceballs.

Plus, the graininess is a) part of the film and b) adds to the grittiness.

Exactly !!!!

I saw Aliens on FX HD a few months ago and it looked pretty good. Not demo worthy but much better than he DVD.

Resurrection wasn't the worst, III was; and AVP wasn't the WORST movie ever w/ AVPR being better and having some VERY cool moments. you CANNOT have a "PG-13" rating for a horror movie. The Grudge was crap, among MANY other failures in the new "happy, fuzzy PG-13 horror flicks to get teen butts in seats and cash in my pocket" genre. if you are gonna do that, then you BETTER have an Unrated DVD when it goes on sale.

...but to have two "R" franchises converge into a PG-13 movie is an insult, but AVPR had some beautifully gnarly moments that made it worthwhile.

yeah; no arguement on whether or not the 1st 2 are the best. they just are, but even the worst horror movie is exponentially better than the best "rom-com". i mean; what would you rather see right now in the theater, the new Nightmare remake or Sex and the City? what a STUPID question, but it had to be asked to prove a point. ;-p

...not trying to talk up LAME horror movies such as probably the worst movie ever made that was The Happening or the laugh that was Drag Me To Hell, but i'd rather dull my senses w/ those than the new Jennifer Hoepez movie or any of the like; yes?!?!?

i mean; if they just keep pumping out "sub-par in most opinion" Alien & Predator movies, then i would rather be dissapointed (while ENTERTAINED) in those than become a complete retard by wasting money on the alternatives that Hollywood is crapping out.

I will be awaiting your commentary on the Aliens BR disc. I have the Quad set already and it looks DAMN GOOD upconverted so I don't know so much if I need to blow the money on this new BR box set. And like many have said, sometimes BR will reveal some unwanted things. I always liked Hardware, and its great to have on BR, but man the "low budget" shines in the BR version...

Heh, well Anon... we're gonna have to agree to completely disagree...

For me, Alien: Resurrection is by far the worst of the 4 movies. But comparing Alien 3 to Resurrection is like comparing a turd to a piece of poop. In the end, Ressurection simply irritates me more. The Newborn alone deems that film to be the worst.

I found little-to-no redeeming qualities to AVP-R. While it did have some nice horror moments (the blonde's sudden death comes to mind), as a movie attached to the ALIEN & PREDATOR Franchises, it (and AVP) are just total insults to both ALIEN Fans and Predator Fans.

Personally, I would much prefer to watch Sex In The City sequels instead of watching my favorite films be further dragged through the diarrhea gutter. While they may have their "moments", overall its simply not worth it.
