They always wanted to call the movie Ghostbusters, but another company owned the name so they were going to go with Ghostsmashers instead. At the last minute, they decided to just license the name from the other company.

Then John Belushi passed away, and Eddie Murphy passed on the movie to make Beverly Hills Cop.
