DON'T BE JEALOUS...

...but I found my old "EXTREME SACRIFICE" tpb in Storage. I think I bought it for like a dollar back in the 90s. It's so extreme!

A fun drinking game is to take a drink for every pouch a character has strapped to them in a Rob Liefeld comic.

@Cameron,

I think you'd be dead of alcohol poisoning by page 3 ;)

another would be to take a half shot every time he hides a foot or attempts to draw one...and of course you could also drink every time a character's hair style chages on a page.

...CHANGES, not chages...also, every time a female character is drawn ten heads tall!

Looks like Stephen Platt art. Whatever happened to that guy?

The cover is by Liefeld... who actually does very little art inside, unfortunately. There is some S.Platt inside - the 'Prophet' issues. Yeah, dunno what happened to him... he was doing 'Soul Saga' about 10 years ago but then disappeared into the night.

I'm not a hater, really. Its just that the man is drawing the same early 90's style stuff...and he can't draw FEET!

Allen Etter-

You obviously haven't seen Rob's artwork lately. His art/style has changed considerably. Might I suggest "Deadpool Corps", or "The Infinite"? Plenty of feet there....if uh, if you're into that kinda thing.

I haven't been digging Liefeld's stuff the past decade... it feels rushed. It seems like he's simply stopped trying to push himself... at all. [original] X-Force and early days of Extreme were his best, I think.

Norris,
Nice. yeah, I'm a foot fetish! I teach life drawing and Illustration courses. His recent stuff is not that much improved. My students have a better grasp of the human form than he does. He's a hack. Get over it, ya silly little cheerleader. Nuf said.

I don't want to read comics that are photo realistic (Greg Land). I want to see stuff like Liefeld. That's a cool tpb. There's a couple others that are pretty awesome. Too bad they're pretty hard to find. Right now Rob's doing the best work of his life.

Platt has done covers for comics here and there, but I think his days of doing interior art is over.

@TimPro - I actually feel Rob's doing some of his worst work right now... it feels phoned in. As if he did a quick initial sketch and then stopped.

Hawk & Dove, Infinite, and the Hawkman & Deathstroke covers they recently released. And his short guest-run on Teen Titans several years back. I didn't read his Deadpool Corps, so I don't know what his art looked like there. Are you referring to something else, or those? These are just my opinion, of course.

I do agree that I'd much prefer an overly stylized penciler (even if bad) than a tracer & recycler like Land. But Land really drives me up the wall - I just can't stand his work at all.

To each his own...

I wish Liefeld would work on Youngblood again.

Jim,

I was mostly talking about the Infinite. I really like that book. It's over the top action and guns. He's always been a minimalist when it comes to backgrounds. Sometimes I think he'd benefit from having a background artist.
If you want to see what I consider his best work, check out his "Baptism of Fire" tpb. There's also a few issues of Cable he did, #71, 73, 75.

I'm not blind though, I see what you're talking about. I like it anyway. Probably because I liked it when I was a teenager and I still like it. I like other artists too.

I've only seen Infinite #1... I'll take another look.

I used to dig Liefeld when I was in high school... New Mutants/X-Force/early-Youngblood era. I just dug the "fresh hyper-style" and energy. For that, I'll always have a place in my heart for the dude's art.

I LOVED his Caliban in New Mutants (2 issues?)... and always dug his Die Hard, Prophet and Deadpool (New Mutants/X-Force era).

But I also understand the Haters.

I myself am a Greg Land Hater, if you didn't know that. :)

I also know people who hate Jim Lee, Alex Ross, Kirby, Mignola, Buschema, etc. To each his own.
