SWEET TOOTH

This past weekend I picked up the first collected volume of SWEET TOOTH by DC/Vertigo. It's a real page turner that grabs ahold of you immediately and pulls you into its world. Writer/Artist Jeff Lemire is a fantastic Sequential Art Storyteller and reminded me of the Medium's Potential. This first volume only collects issues 1-5 of the monthly comic, with Vol 2 set for a december 2010 release. I don't think I can wait that long so I plan on picking up the individual issues asap at my local comic shop.

Here's the solicit:

"A cross between Bambi and Cormac McCarthy's The Road, SWEET TOOTH tells the story of Gus, a rare new breed of human/animal hybrid children, has been raised in isolation following an inexplicable pandemic that struck a decade earlier. Now, with the death of his father he's left to fend for himself . . . until he meets a hulking drifter named Jepperd who promises to help him. Jepperd and Gus set out on a post-apocalyptic journey into the devastated American landscape to find 'The Preserve' a refuge for hybrids."

You can download the first issue for FREE right HERE.

Yes, Sweet Tooth is great. Didn't know it was even being collected in a trade.
